A method for increasing an adhesive to a substrate is disclosed which utilizes a hydrophilic, high molecular weight, nonionic polyurethane adhesive. The polyurethane adhesive is soluble in water and a 1% by weight solution of the adhesive in water at 20% has a specific viscosity of at least 0.4. The nonionic polyurethane contains the following structural units: a) nullOnull(CH2nullCH2O)n where n is 8 to 500; b) nullCOnullNHnullXnullNHCOnull where X is an aliphatic or cycloaliphatic group; and c) nullOnullYnullOnull wherein Y comprises a hydrophobic moiety from the groups (nullCH2nullCH(CH3)nullO)mnullCH2nullCH(CH3)null, (nullCH2 CH(C2H5)nullO)mnullCH2nullCH(C2H5)null, (nullCH2nullCH2nullCH2nullCH2O)mnullCH2CH2CH2CH2null, alkylene groups having from 2 to 44 carbon atoms, cycloalkylene groups having from 6 to 44 carbon atoms and mixtures thereof.

Detergent formulation for washing laundry characterized in that it comprises: from about 10 to 80% of its weight of at least one hydrated zeolite (z) of formula xNa.sub.2 O.yAl.sub.2 O.sub.3.zSiO.sub.2.wH.sub.2 O in which, if y=1, x is from about 0.7 to 1.1, z is from about 1.3 to 3.3 and w is from about 10 to 264 from about 0.005 to 5%, of its weight of a least one polyalkylene terephthalate-polyoxyalkylenebisurethane (PET-UPOEU) copolymeric nonionic or anionic anti-soiling agent, said copolymer being obtained by reaction of a polyalkylene terephthalate (PET) and a polyoxyalkylnebisurethane (UPOEU), the molar ratio of the NCO functions to all of the OH functions or OH function equivalents being from about 0.5 to 1, from about 3 to 40%, of its weight of a least one saturated C.sub.5 -C.sub.24, aliphatic or hydroxyaliphatic alkyl sulphate anionic surfactant (FAS) optionally condensed with approximately 0.5 to 30 mol of ethylene oxide and/or propylene oxide, optionally, up to 15% of its weight of a nonionic surfactant, it not being possible for more than 5% by weight of the said detergent formulation to consist of an alkylbenzenesulphonate. It has been observed that this PET-UPOEU type of anti-soiling agent, present in low amount in detergent compositions based on zeolite and aliphatic alkyl sulphate, has advantageous anti-soiling properties.

A class of modified hydrophilic prepolymers and polymers is disclosed which are characterized by their specific reactivity. Isocyanate-capped oxyethylene-based prepolymers are modified by reacting with a compound having an isocyanate-reactive group which is a sulfhydryl group, an amino group, a hydroxyl group or a carboxyl group, and a non-isocyanate-reactive group, in quantities sufficient to modify at least a portion of the isocyanate groups of the prepolymer. Where said first functional group is an amino group contained in a diamine or polyamine compound or is a carboxyl group, the modifying compound is present in quantities sufficient to modify all or substantially all of the isocyanate groups of the prepolymer.

Canulae formed of or having a coating of polyurethane diacrylate compositions obtained by reacting a diacrylate in the presence of from about 65 to about 95 weight percent of a hydrophilic polyurethane resin. The compositions will form a hydrogel upon immersion in water and are permeable to gases, ions and other low molecular weight species. The hydrophilic polyurethane diacrylate compositions may be molded to form shaped products that are dimensionally stable after repeated exposure to boiling water and exhibit memory.
