Abstract:
A laminate vehicle floor liner includes a core backing layer that is coated on either side with a polymer layer. The polymer layers act as moisture barriers to prevent water moisture and vapor from seeping into and degrading the core backing material. The liner may further include a reinforcing layer and third polymer layer laminated onto it. The polymer layers lock in and create a moisture barrier for the encapsulated backing and reinforcing layers.
Abstract:
A composite fabric garment includes a first garment portion disposed in one or more upper regions of the fabric garment, i.e. those regions relatively more likely in use to be exposed to wind and rain, and a second garment portion disposed in one or more lower regions of the fabric garment, i.e. those regions relatively less likely in use to be exposed to wind and rain. The first garment portion is formed of a first composite fabric having first inner and outer fabric layers and a first intermediate barrier layer disposed between and bonded to at least one of the first inner and outer fabric layers, the first intermediate barrier layer being breathable and substantially impermeable to wind and liquid water. The second garment portion is formed of a second composite fabric formed of second inner and outer fabric layers and having predetermined air permeability. In one embodiment, the second garment portion further includes a second intermediate, breathable, air-permeable barrier layer disposed between and bonded to at least one of the second inner and outer fabric layers. In another embodiment, the second garment portion is formed of a composite fabric having controlled air permeability in a non-laminate absent a barrier.
Abstract:
The waterproof/breathable moisture transfer liner for a snowboard boot includes an inner liner selected from technically advanced fabrics which are carefully selected. A series of layers are provided outside the inner liner including foam material layers, breathable membranes, a supportive mesh or a moldable foam, and an outer shell fabric. The applicability of the liner to alpine, cross country and hiking boots, along with appropriate variations for each application.
Abstract:
A laminate product comprising a foam core having a pair of opposed major surfaces and a cover layer secured with respect to each major surface is described. The cover layer comprises a polymeric substrate having disposed therein a plurality of reinforcing fibrous material. It has been found that it is possible to produce a foam laminate product having improved stiffness if a lower amount of reinforcing material is used for a given amount of polymer substrate. In particular, it has been found possible to provide an improved foam laminate product having a relatively high ratio of stiffness to weight of reinforcing fibrous material. It has been further discovered that the stiffness of the resulting foam laminate product can be increased when the polymer substrate and the reinforcing fibrous material are present in a weight ratio of greater than 2.5. This is believed to be the result of improved encapsulation of the reinforcing fibrous material by the polymer substrate.
Abstract:
A multiplanar, conductive gasket material having a foam core, a conductive web layer comprising a blended mixture of conductive fibers and nonconductive fibers, and a plurality of blended mixture fibers interspersed through the foam core. The blended mixture fibers are heat set within the gasket material.
Abstract:
A wallcovering that has a moisture permeability of at least about 25 perms is provided by bonding first and second porous fabric sheets by an adhesively effective amount of a fused plastisol. Methods of making the breathable wallcovering and methods of using the breathable wallcovering are also provided.
Abstract:
The present invention relates generally to composite materials and to methods of manufacturing the composite materials. In particular, the composite material of the present invention utilizes combinations of continuous fibers in the form of loops, chopped fibers, woven fibers and foams.
