Abstract: A reader for an electronic identification tag, the reader comprising: a transmitter antenna for exciting a passive electronic identification tag in proximity, the transmitter antenna comprising one or more single windings; and a receiver antenna for coupling a signal from the electronic identification tag to other parts 5 of a receiver module, the antenna comprising twin windings wound in an anti-phase manner. A method for identifying a sequence of unique identifiers, each unique identifier being associated with an animal, the method comprising: obtaining a stream of reads from animal identification tags, each animal identification tag being attached to a corresponding animal, each read comprising 10 one of a plurality of unique identifiers; identifying one or more distributions based on the number of reads for each of the plurality of unique identifiers in the stream; and determining a sequence of unique identifiers based on the distributions.

Abstract: GPS trackers for pets are known, however known systems are visible, and are therefore easily identified and removed by thieves. The present invention enables a GPS tracker to be inserted within a compartment 90, wherein the compartment 90 is concealed behind a first part 10 or a second part 20 of a dog harness. Accordingly, if a dog is stolen while wearing the harness, the thief may be unaware of the presence or the location of the GPS tracker. This may enable the location of the dog to be ascertained by the owner so that the dog may be recovered. Furthermore, the unobtrusive and secure mounting of the GPS tracker within the GPS tracker holder may prevent it from becoming detached from the harness and lost.

Abstract: A feeding system for feeding individual animals of a herd feed, supplements, and combinations thereof. The feeding system includes one-to-many feed bin assemblies or feeding stations such that the system is able to dispense a specified mass of feed to specific animals at user-defined intervals. In this way, each animal of a herd is provided with optimal, individualized amounts of feed or feed material. Multiple feed bin assemblies in a single pasture, for example, can automatically form a network of feeders so that regardless of the specific feed bin assembly or feeding station within the feeding system that an animal visits, the specified amount and type of feed or feed material is delivered. Each feed bin assembly or feeding station can also be equipped to download, archive/store, and/or synthesize data into an individual animal record and/or to transmit data from additional onboard animal sensors such as activity and rumination sensors.

The second type of livestock tag, which is attached to a second livestock animal, includes second short-range range transceiver that transmits a unique tag identifier associated with the second type of livestock tag to the first short-range wireless transceiver; the second type of livestock tag is incapable of transmitting a long-range wireless transmission. The computing device receives the unique tag identifier of the second type of livestock tag from the first type of livestock tag via long-range wireless transmission from the first long-range wireless transceiver.
