摘要： A technique is provided for keeping rodents and other pests out of warehouses and other buildings. A pest control device or guard is provided which is attached or fixed near the bottom surface of a garage door. The pest control device can adjust to uneven ground surfaces so that a fence or guard is provided to prevent pests, such as rats from entering buildings. The pest control device may be comprised of first, second, and third brackets which are connected together and can be mounted to a garage door. The brackets may be L-shaped. A plurality of pins is connected to the first, second, and third brackets so that each of the plurality of pins can move with respect to the first, second, and third brackets.

摘要： An evaporation device 2 is disclosed for the evaporation of volatile substances, in particular insecticides and aromatics, which includes a housing 13 which contains a heating element and a container 50 for a substance to be evaporated. This container 50 contains a wick which is associated with the heating element with a wick end 30 protruding from container 50. The heating element can be longitudinally displaced near the container 50 in the housing 13 relative to the wick end 30 to adjust the degree of evaporation. According to the invention, the heating element is carried on a movable heater assembly that can be displaced longitudinally in the housing relative to the wick end. The movable heater assembly can be fixed in different positions relative to the wick end 30 and the longitudinal direction of the wick axis for the adjustment of the degree of evaporation.

摘要： A termite bait station for installation in the ground includes a tubular outer housing and a tubular inner bait cartridge inserted into the housing, each having circumferentially elongate apertures therethrough to allow termites to access bait in the cartridge. Each aperture in the cartridge is disposed between a pair of spaced, parallel ribs that extend in the circumferential direction. The ribs reduce the radial gap that must be traversed by a termite passing from the outer housing to the bait cartridge. The ribs also form circumferentially extending channels for producing a channeling effect tending to lead termites into the apertures in the cartridge.

摘要： The invention is directed to an apparatus and method of treating agricultural commodities for pests. It is a portable, dismantleable box that can be erected around a stack or array of loaded shipping containers. An impermeably envelope is wrapped around the box and is used to create a controlled atmosphere for treatment of the contents of the shipping containers. This is achieved by creating hypobaric conditions inside the impermeable envelope, by introducing pesticide to the impermeable envelope, or by some combination of both vacuum and pesticide. Finally, the apparatus may be used for postharvest storage of materials that are susceptible to spoilage or pest damage.

摘要： A method and system are disclosed for fumigating at least one region with a nonflammable gaseous mixture including phosphine. A sensor senses the concentration of phosphine for atmosphere of the region and a flow controller controls flow to the region in response to the sensed concentration. A recycling passage removes a portion of the atmosphere from the region and returns the atmosphere to create a recycle flow through the region. In addition, a gas mixing system is provided to supply the non-flammable mixture by mixing phosphine from a phosphine source and an inert substance from an inert substance source.

A heating assembly, including electrical plugs fixedly attached to an electrical heater, extends partially into the housing to deliver heat to the cavity and activate the fumigant. The device further includes a trap that receives any liquified fumigant escaping from the cavity, thereby rendering the fumigation device operable regardless of the angular orientation of the electrical outlet on a vertical wall.

摘要： The present invention provides an apparatus and method for controlled release of a fumigant into a wooden structure to prevent decay of that structure. According to the present invention, a fumigant in an ampule or container is inserted into the wooden structure. The ampule or container is made of a polymeric material that does not react with the fumigant, but having walls which are permeable to the fumigant such that, when inserted into the wooden structure, the rate of release of the fumigant through the walls of the ampule is slow enough to continuously treat and arrest decay of the wooden structure, particularly decay caused by fungi, over extended periods of time (i.e., 1, 5, 7, 10, 15, 20 or 30 years). The rate of release of the fumigant can be controlled by the type of fumigant, the shape of the container, the specific polymer used to make the container, and by the thickness of the container wall.
