Abstract: Compositions and methods for controlling pests are provided. The methods involve transforming organisms with a nucleic acid sequence encoding an insecticidal protein. In particular, the nucleic acid sequences are useful for preparing plants and microorganisms that possess insecticidal activity. Thus, transformed bacteria, plants, plant cells, plant tissues and seeds are provided. Compositions are insecticidal nucleic acids and proteins of bacterial species. The sequences find use in the construction of expression vectors for subsequent transformation into organisms of interest including plants, as probes for the isolation of other homologous (or partially homologous) genes. The pesticidal proteins find use in controlling, inhibiting growth or killing Lepidopteran, Coleopteran, Dipteran, Hemipteran, fungi and nematode pest populations and for producing compositions with insecticidal activity.

Abstract: Methods of plant growth are performed in the presence of nanocellulose, processed plant cell wall material, and/or processed plant cell wall polysaccharides. These methods enhance all stages of plant growth, from seed germination to vegetative growth and also promote root growth from cut stems that are normally unable to propagate roots. The methods are based on the discovery that plants can indeed access cellulosic polysaccharides when the cellulose is processed to a sufficiently small size.

Abstract: According to an aspect of the present application, a composition for controlling a target pest comprises 0.1% to 4% isopropyl myristate, 0.1% to 15% thyme oil white, 0.1% to 2% geraniol, and at least one additional active ingredient selected from thymyl acetate, linalyl acetate, amyl butyrate, anise star oil, black seed oil, p-cymene, linalool, d-limonene, isopropyl myristate, lilac flower oil, methyl salicylate, alpha-pinene, piperonal, piperonyl alcohol, tetrahydrolinalool, thyme oil white, thyme oil red, thymol, vanillin, and wintergreen oil. The composition causes synergistic control of the target pest.

Abstract: A virucidal composition, a method of its manufacturing, related uses and end-user products are hereby provided. The composition includes a mixture of biologically active substances obtainable from selected fungal strains of Ganoderma lucidum (MUS12, MUS15, MUS18 and MUS23) by culturing the fungi in essentially liquid culture medium in a culture tank or a bioreactor in conditions essentially excluding agitation. The biologically active substances are obtained as a product excreted by mycelium of the above indicated G. lucidum strains and contain secondary metabolites, such as ganoderic acids and their derivatives. The composition has proved efficient in preventing the spread of viral infections. The composition can be used as a disinfecting agent for skin and nonliving surfaces and/or as an ingredient in preparation of personal care products.

Abstract: The present invention provides non-propagating transgenic microalgae expressing at least one heterologous RNAi molecule. The RNAi-expressing non-propagating transgenic microalgae are used for oral delivery of the RNAi molecule to a target organism in its intact and functional form. The heterologous RNAi molecule, present within the microalgae, is characterized by being biologically active, exerting at least one specific effect on the organism consuming the microalgae or on a pathogen of said organism. In particular, the non-propagating transgenic microalgae are used as agents for biological control of animal and plant pests.

Abstract: Plant growth compositions include a solvent composition and an active component composition. The solvent composition includes 1-methoxy-2-propanol, glyceryl triacetate, methyl isobutyl ketone, 2-bytoxy ethanol, ethyl acetate, butyl lactate, lactic acid and/or n-butyl pyrrolidone. The active component combination is formulated to increase the growth of a plant, and includes an auxin, a gibberellin, a cytokinin, or a combination thereof. The solvent composition excludes butanol and/or citric acid. The boiling point of the solvent composition is at least about 100° C. and less than about 180° C. The solvent composition is compatible with Rhizobia. A method of improving plant growth involves applying the plant growth composition to plant seeds, which may include soybean seeds, corn seeds, wheat seeds, barley seeds, alfalfa seeds, or combinations thereof, and growing the nascent plants to maturity.

Abstract: An antimicrobial composition includes peracetic acid and witch hazel extract. The peracetic acid can be formed by combining and reacting the acetic acid and hydrogen peroxide, for example at the point of use. Alternatively, the peracetic acid may be formed separately and mixed with the witch hazel extract prior to use. The resulting peracetic acid and hydrogen peroxide are, thus, combined with the witch hazel extract prior to use. The combination of peracetic acid, hydrogen peroxide and witch hazel extract may be applied as an antimicrobial. The antimicrobial composition may be applied topically to various organs (e.g., skin, nose, ears, mouth, throat, urethra, urinary bladder, gastrointestinal organs) or instilled through an indwelling urinary catheter or applied or inserted as a topical additive or coating to devices or other organ surfaces or other medical devices, or on the skin of the body or surfaces of inanimate objects.
