摘要： Methods and apparatuses for detecting the fill height of a pre-filled cone and closing the cone are disclosed. A height detector, such as a laser rangefinder, detects the height of a pre-filled cone. A gripper then grips the pre-filled cone at the height plus a predetermined offset, the offset calculated to result in an optimum packing of cone fill material. The gripper then closes the cone by rotating to form a twist, which is then trimmed to the height plus the predetermined offset. Other embodiments may be described and/or claimed.

摘要： In some embodiments, a system includes a pod assembly, a dispensing assembly, a filling assembly, a spinning assembly, a twisting assembly, an unloading assembly, and an electronic control unit. The dispensing assembly can dispense a set of cones into the pod assembly, each cone having a first end and a second end, the first end being a pre-closed end. The filling assembly can fill each cone in the pod assembly with filler material. The spinning assembly can spin the pod assembly such that the filler material within each cone is compressed. The twisting assembly can twist the second end of each cone such that the second end is closed. The unloading assembly can remove each cone from the pod assembly and transfer each cone to another location separate from the pod assembly.

摘要： A machine for making cigarettes from empty filter tip cigarette tubes and from tobacco cartridges consisting of compressed tobacco contained in a thin sheath of cellulose film or other non-consumable material, the length of the cartridge being slightly greater than that of the cigarette tube. A cartridge is inserted into a cigarette tube, and the combination is slid along a trough and pushed against a stop. The stop, which is carried by a long rod coaxial with the trough, prevents movement of the tobacco while allowing movement of the sheath past the stop. The sheath is then stripped off by a slider which slides back and forth along the rod, thus leaving the tobacco in the cigarette tube.
