摘要: Devices, systems, and methods for evaluating spinal stiffness of a patient. One method may include providing a database model based on existing patient data with normalized spine stiffness data. Segmental stiffness may be measured intraoperatively, for example, using a force-sensing instrument, and compared to the database model. A surgical task, such as osteotomy or ligament release, may be performed based on guidance from the database model to adjust the spinal stiffness of the patient. Segmental stiffness may be measured after each surgical task, thereby updating the database model with each reading on segmental stiffness in real time. Each level may be addressed until targeted stiffness values, such as segmental stiffness and global stiffness, are reached based on the database model.

摘要: A tensegrity external fixation system utilizes a tensegrity external fixator having a compression portion and a tension portion that create a force to distract bone. A tensegrity external fixator has a compressor assembly with an extension that is compresses by a tension element, such as a tension band. In an embodiment, the tension band is coupled with a bone via a stud that is attached to the bone. The tension band may extend through a stud retainer, such as a loop coupled with the stud. A single extension may be used and compressed to cause the extension to bow between a tension band or wires. In an exemplary embodiment, a compressor assembly has a compression element that is compressed by the one or more extensions. Two extensions may extend from a compressor coupling having a compression element and manipulation of the extensions may place the compression element in compression.

摘要: Treatment devices for sacroiliac (SI) joint hypomobility are described herein. In one example, a method of treating SI joint hypomobility involves positioning a person relative to a SI joint device that includes a resilient crest. Positioning the person relative to the SI joint device can involve aligning the resilient crest along the SI joint underneath the person. The method can also include using the SI joint device to pry open the SI joint. In another example, an SI joint device includes a body extending between a medial end and a lateral end, and the body includes a rigid protrusion. The SI joint device can also include a resilient cover extending over the rigid protrusion. The rigid protrusion and the resilient cover can define a crest for prying open the SI joint. The crest can include a concavity oriented towards the lateral end of the body, and the crest can deform towards the lateral end of the body when subjected to a load on a top of the crest.

摘要: Dynamization tabs and methods of use are provided. Dynamization tabs may be used with an external fixation ring or other fixator device as part of a therapeutic treatment of bone fractures or malformations. The device forms a connection between one or more fixation struts and an external fixation ring so as to introduce controllable amounts of movement or dynamization to the arrangement of the struts and the fixator. By introducing controlled amounts of dynamization, therapeutic benefits can be derived in the enhanced, accelerated bone formation, mineralization and remodeling of the underlying bone. Dynamization tabs may comprise a strut connector, a mechanical biasing or dynamizing device, and a ring connector. Many different forms for introducing controlled amounts of dynamization are disclosed.

摘要: A bone material dispensing device is provided. The bone material dispensing device comprises a housing having a proximal end, a distal end, and a longitudinal axis. The proximal end having a first opening and the distal end having a second opening. The first opening and the second opening configured to slidably receive at least a portion of a plunger. A locking member is provided that is pivotably connected to an upper surface of the housing and extends adjacent to the upper surface of the housing. The locking member comprises a locking surface extending adjacent to the distal end of the housing configured to engage a portion of a tubular member, a funnel, or a combination thereof. The locking member is movable in a locking position to lock the portion of the tubular member, the funnel, or the combination thereof with the housing. A bone material dispensing system and a method of implanting bone material with the bone material dispensing system are also provided.
