    Abstract: A polyaxial bone screw system and method for connecting a longitudinal rod to multiple bones or bone portions. The system may include a bone fastener having a shank and a shank head; a polyaxial body to receive the shank head; and a collet for applying force to exterior surface of the shank head when the collet is acted upon by a rod, which is pressed onto the collet via a set screw received in the polyaxial body. The force applied to the shank head by the collet is adequate to temporarily lock the desired orientation of the shank with respect to the polyaxial body.

    Abstract: Systems, methods and devices for providing orthopedic implant augments are provided which have fastener locking mechanisms. The augments include a surface for mating with an implant component and a surface for interfacing with a patient's bone. The fastener locking mechanisms are aligned such that the augment may be locked in a variety of orientations while maintaining close contact with both an implant and a patient's bone. The alignment of the locking mechanisms provides variability and adjustability to the augment to address a variety of bone anatomies and requirements.

    Abstract: The fusion systems include a first fastener, a second fastener, and an elongate member with a first end and a second end. The first end being secured to the first fastener and the second end being secure to the second fastener. The method of assembling a fusion system including obtaining towers, fasteners, and an elongate member; coupling the fasteners to the towers; inserting ends of the elongate member into the fasteners; coupling locking caps to a screwdriver; and screwing the locking caps into heads of the fasteners to secure the ends of the elongate member to the fasteners. The methods of using the fusion systems including exposing a patient's vertebrae and obtaining the fusion system, inserting first and second fasteners into first and second vertebra, and coupling the first fastener and second fastener.

    Abstract: A nail for compressing two bone parts to treat bone fractures or osteotomies is provided. The nail has an elongate smooth portion and an elongate threaded portion that is constructed for generating axial compression along a length of the elongate threaded portion between two bone parts. The nail may also have one or more apertures for installing one or more crossing screws through the nail. An installation instrument particularly constructed to install the provided nail is provided. A first and second portion of the provided nail installation instrument may rotate relative to one another when a locking mechanism is disengaged, but are locked in position relative to one another when the locking mechanism is engaged, which enables installation of the provided nail.

    Abstract: The present invention provides a method of forming pilot apertures for surgical screws. The method provides at least three points of contact to the screw shank to provide reliable positioning and retention of the bone screw. The method also provides slots or areas for insertion and retention of bone growth promoting materials which further secure the bone screw over time. The method is useful for patients of all ages, and may be particularly useful for patients that have osteoporosis or patients that are very active by providing additional securement of the bone screw to the underlying bone.

    Abstract: An implant including first and second end plates, each of which defines at least one anterior ramped surface and at least one posterior ramped surface. A posterior actuator is positioned between the first and second end plates and has guiding ramp surfaces which correspond with the posterior ramped surfaces. An anterior actuator is positioned between the first and second end plates and guiding ramp surfaces which correspond with the anterior ramped surfaces. An actuator assembly extends between the posterior actuator and the anterior actuator and is configured to selectively move the posterior actuator and the anterior actuator simultaneously, move posterior actuator independently of the anterior actuator, or move the anterior actuator independently of the posterior actuator.
