Abstract: A number of improvements are provided relating to computer aided surgery utilizing an on tool tracking system. The various improvements relate generally to both the methods used during computer aided surgery and the devices used during such procedures. Other improvements relate to the structure of the tools used during a procedure and how the tools can be controlled using the OTT device. Still other improvements relate to methods of providing feedback during a procedure to improve either the efficiency or quality, or both, for a procedure including the rate of and type of data processed depending upon a CAS mode.

Abstract: The present invention relates to a method of re-connecting a first optical fiber (12) with a second optical fiber (34), the first fiber (12) and the second fiber (34) each having a plurality of outer cores, comprising: (a) positioning a first end section of the first fiber (12) and a second end section of the second fiber (34) in proximity so as to be aligned with one another along a longitudinal axis of the first and second end sections in a current connection position including a current connection orientation, in which a current relative rotational angle between the first and second end sections about the longitudinal axis is not known with respect to a relative rotational angle between the first and second end sections in a registered connection orientation determined with respect to a coordinate system during a previous connection of the first fiber (12) with the second fiber (34); (b) optically interrogating the outer cores of the first and second fibers (12, 34) through the current connection position to receive optical signals from the outer cores; (c) modifying, from the optical interrogation of the outer cores, the registered connection orientation such that the first and second fibers in the current connection orientation including the current relative rotational angle between the first and second end sections about the longitudinal axis are correctly registered with respect to the coordinate system.

Abstract: A spring assembly usable with an intravascular catheter can include a tubular body, two mounting surfaces, and a compressible framework. The tubular body extends along a longitudinal axis and is sized to traverse vasculature. Each mounting surface can be configured to engage a substantially planar electrical circuit and is positioned in the tubular body each in a respective plane perpendicular to the longitudinal axis. The mounting surfaces face toward each other in opposite directions. The compressible framework extends between the first and second mounting surfaces. The spring assembly can further include a pair of electrical circuits mounted to the pair mounting surfaces. Each electrical circuit can include an inductive coil such that the pair of electrical circuits is a distance transducer. A change in distance between the pair of electrical circuits can be detected when the compressible framework is compressed and/or bent.

A method may include initializing one or more cameras on an external electrode assembly including a pair of electrodes. The method may further include, based at least in part on the image information, providing feedback, comprising at least one of visual feedback and audio feedback, on at least one output device to guide the rescuer in the treatment of the patient.

Abstract: According to exemplary embodiments of the present disclosure, devices, systems, and methods for pyloric occlusion in an endoscopic procedure may include a first flange and a second flange connected to the first flange by a saddle region having a lumen. The second flange may be proximal to the first flange. The pyloric occlusion device may further include a closure element. The closure element may be configured to occlude a flow of material through the lumen, including across the pylorus when deployed. The closure element may be a closure of the lumen by rotation of one of the first or second flanges about the saddle region relative to the other of the first or second flange.

Abstract: A magnetic tracking device is configured to track an object in an environment by receiving a measurement of the non-magnetic signal and a corresponding measurement of the magnetic signal for a location of the magnetic tracking device in the environment. The magnetic tracking device estimates, based on the measurement of the non-magnetic signal, a non-magnetic pose of the magnetic tracking device in the environment for the location. The device estimates, based on the measurement of the magnetic signal, a magnetic pose of the magnetic tracking device in the environment for the location. The device determines a difference between the magnetic pose estimate and the non-magnetic pose estimate for the location. The device determines a magnetic distortion correction value for the location based on the difference. The magnetic tracking device generates a distortion correction model including the distortion value and outputs a representation of the distortion correction model.

Abstract: Flexible, longitudinally extended sensors comprising variably inductive sensing material. Sensors connect to an external processing unit using as few as 2 connections. In operation, sensors measure inductance along their longitudinal extent (curve). Spectral de-multiplexing allows electrical property differences along sensors to be resolved. This enables shape tracking of the flexible sensor. The sensor principles are suitable for the production of ultra-small diameter probes (for example, smaller than 0.5 mm) of arbitrary length (for example, 30 cm long). There are potential advantages for cost efficiency and ease of manufacture.

A method for planning guidance of an access needle into a patient in preparation for a minimally invasive surgical procedure comprises determining a location for an access point on the patient, positioning a guidance pad over the access point, inserting a tip of the access needle through the pad, and displaying guidance information on the guidance pad.

The report generation means generates an examination report including the observation time, the degree of intestinal tract washing, a presence or absence of reaching the cecum of the endoscope, and a detection result of the lesion including the positional information of the lesion. The generated examination report is displayed on the display device.
