摘要： A passive stent for retaining an organ in an expanded state configured to adhere and substantially conform to an external surface of the organ may include an inner layer, an outer layer, and a middle layer that is enclosed by the inner layer and the outer layer, comprising a plurality of components configured to interlock and maintain the organ in an expanded state upon application of a vacuum. A method for retaining an organ in an expanded state may include applying at least one force to the organ to place the organ in the expanded state; applying a passive stent to an external surface of the organ; and applying a vacuum to the passive stent sufficient to cause a plurality of components of at least one layer of the passive stent to interlock, where the at least one layer is configured to maintain the organ in the expanded state after interlocking.

摘要： In order to provide efficient support for a user's back, the belt of the present application includes structures to help align and maintain the position of three portions of the users body—an upper abdominal region, a lower abdominal region and the lower back. To provide this support, a belt has an abdominal panel configured to be positioned over the user's abdomen, and a belt member wrapping around the waist region. The abdominal panel has a specific configuration and size to cause an upper portion of the abdomen is held in position and a lower portion of the abdomen to be held in position, with forces being applied so that these portions remain in a preferred alignment. The belt member includes a strap that is configured so that it can be positioned within the user's waist groove, and will provide additional supporting forces. In this way, the belt provides support to three critical locations on the user's body, thus insuring optimum alignment and support of the user's central body region.

摘要： A therapeutic garment for treatment of over-shunting headaches and method for use of the same are disclosed. In one embodiment, the therapeutic garment includes a waistband and an abdominal portion that extends from the waistband to encircle the abdomen and hips from the groin to the costal margin of a person wearing the therapeutic garment. A binder portion is partially coincident to the abdominal portion. The binder portion includes a pressure subassembly including a network of interconnected channels having an inflation valve accessible from an exterior of the abdominal portion. The pressure assembly, when selectively inflated, provides a qualified degree of compression to distend an epidural venous plexus of the person wearing the therapeutic garment.
