摘要: An improved anesthetic nerve block and method is disclosed comprising a local long acting anesthetic and a physiologic carbonate base. The local long acting anesthetic and the physiologic carbonate base are introduced to a living organism and adjacent to a nerve. The local long acting anesthetic and the physiologic carbonate base react to form a precipitated mass around the nerve for creating a local nerve block. The precipitated mass degrades into unionized local anesthetic which penetrates through the nerve membrane and into the axon for creating a prolonged local nerve block.

摘要: The present invention provides a curved needle design which deflects to an advantageous angle when inserted within the medial posterior soft tissue of the patient lower jaw. The deflected needle tip is more perpendicular to the vertical wall of the posterior ramus and promotes the needle tip contacting bone proximate to the inferior alveolar nerve prior to injection of anesthetic. The needle design also improves the tactile feedback to the dental practitioner as the needle penetrates tissue and contacts bone.

摘要: Systems and methods of controlling fluid flow of an inhalant anesthetic to expedite patient recovery are provided such that nitrous oxide flow and oxygen flow over different durations are output to a patient mask. In one exemplary embodiment, a method performed by a controller in an inhalant anesthetic system that outputs a nitrous oxide flow and an oxygen flow over different durations for output to a patient mask comprises sending, to a nitrous oxide flow control mechanism, an indication to enable the nitrous oxide flow for a first predetermined duration that corresponds to a certain amount of nitrous oxide. Further, the method includes sending, by the controller, to the oxygen flow control mechanism, an indication to enable the oxygen flow for a second predetermined duration that corresponds to a certain amount of oxygen.

摘要: An improved anesthetic nerve block and method is disclosed comprising a dispenser including a storage body, a transfer body and a tip for positioning adjacent to the nerve. A local short acting anesthetic is in the storage body. A physiologic carbonate base is in the storage body. The local short acting anesthetic and the physiologic carbonate base are dispensed from the tip of the dispenser where the local short acting anesthetic facilities the penetration of the physiologic carbonate base through the nerve membrane and into the axon. A local long acting anesthetic is in the storage body. The local long acting anesthetic is dispensed from the tip of the dispenser and penetrates through the nerve membrane and into the axon. The local long acting anesthetic and the physiologic carbonate base cause a precipitate and form a crystallization compound for creating a prolonged local nerve block.

摘要: A method and an apparatus for applying an anesthetic that includes a receptacle having an upper end, a substantially hollow interior, a lower end having a tube or nozzle extending therefrom, and an attachment for attaching to the barrel of a syringe or vice versa. The receptacle receives a container or canister containing an endothermic gas or vapor (propellant) that rapidly absorbs heat when released to the atmosphere. A depressible actuating member or trigger propels the gas or vapor through an outlet nozzle that is oriented to project a stream of gas or vapor along a delivery axis that intersects a delivery axis of the needle, therefore, the gas or vapor can be successively delivered to an injection site with minimal repositioning of the housing.
