摘要: An apparatus includes a compressor, which is configured to compress air and includes an input port and an output port, an output conduit coupled with the output port and configured to receive the air from the compressor, an input conduit coupled with the input port, a switching valve coupled with the output conduit and with the input conduit, and configured to couple a pneumatic surgical cutting tool, alternatingly, with the output conduit and with the input conduit, and a supply conduit coupled with the input conduit and configured to supply the air, to the input conduit, from a surrounding environment. The supply conduit includes a one-way valve configured to inhibit the air from escaping from the input conduit to the surrounding environment when the compressor is idle. Other examples are also described.

摘要: A fluid mixing device for mixing a first injection fluid and a second injection fluid includes a first fluid inlet, a second fluid inlet, a mixing chamber in fluid communication with the first and second fluid inlets, and an outlet port in fluid communication with the mixing chamber. The first fluid inlet is configured to conduct the first injection fluid in a first direction and has a first redirecting surface. The second fluid inlet is configured to conduct the second injection fluid in a second direction along a different axis from the first direction and has a second redirecting surface. The mixing chamber is configured to mix the first injection fluid and the second fluid together. The mixture of the first injection fluid and the second injection fluid exits the fluid mixing device via the outlet port.

摘要: A medical connector can include a body having a fluid path with an inlet port, an outlet port, a luer portion, and a post extending through a fluid path. An arm having a latch member is coupled to the body to engage a ridge or thread on an exterior surface of a reciprocal connector. The arm may also include an extension. When the connector is in an open position, the latch member restricts retraction of the reciprocal connector from the outlet port. A seal is coupled to the body and includes a flap extending across the outlet port or a bellows to compress along an axis. In a closed position, the post restricts flow through the luer portion. In an open position, the post permits flow through the luer portion.

摘要: Methods for treating hydrocephalus using a shunt, the shunt having one or more CSF intake openings in a distal portion, a valve disposed in a proximal portion of the shunt, and a lumen extending between the one or more CSF intake openings and the valve, the method comprises deploying the shunt in a body of a patient so that the distal portion of the shunt is at least partially disposed within a CP angle cistern, a body of the shunt is at least partially disposed within an IPS of the patient, and the proximal portion of the shunt is at least partially disposed within or proximate to a JV of the patient, wherein, after deployment of the shunt, CSF flows from the CP angle cistern to the JV via the shunt lumen at a flow rate in a range of 5 ml per hour to 15 ml per hour.

Openings in the blunt hollow probe connect via a pathway to an automatic check valve, which permits the flow of air and/or fluid only in a proximal direction. Pressure from within the pleural cavity is transmitted to the interior surface of a pressure documenter. If pressure greater than atmospheric pressure is present in the pleural cavity, the pressure documenter will be automatically urged proximally to simultaneously allow air and/or fluid to escape from the pleural space through the device, thus treating the tension pneumothorax and/or hemothorax, as well as providing a stable indicator to positively document the diagnosis of increased pressure.

摘要: A valve assembly embodiment includes first and second valve devices and a coupling mechanism. Each of the first and second valve devices can include first and second fluid pathways and first and second valve members respectively positioned at the first and second fluid pathways. Both the first and second valve members can have an open position that permits fluid flow and a closed position that prevents fluid flow along the first and second fluid pathways past the first and second valve members. The coupling mechanism can couple to each of the first and second valve members. When the valve assembly is actuated, the coupling mechanism can be configured to transition one or both of the first and second valve members between the open and closed positions.
