Abstract: A wearable cardioverter defibrillator (WCD) system includes a support structure that the patient may wear, and one or more sensors that may acquire patient physiological signals, such as ECG and others. A processor of the WCD system may determine diagnostics from the patient physiological signals. These diagnostics include a six-second ECG portion, heart rates as histograms, heart rates against QRS width, heart rate trends, clinical event counters, diagnostics relating to heart rate variability and about the atrial arrhythmia burden of the patient. In some embodiments, the WCD system includes a user interface with a screen that displays these diagnostics. In some embodiments, the WCD system exports these diagnostics for viewing by a different screen. When viewed, these diagnostics permit more detailed analysis of the state of the patient.

Abstract: In one aspect, an example wearable cardioverter defibrillator (WCD) system implementing the disclosed techniques includes a support structure, the support structure configured to be worn by a subject. The WCD system also includes a consciousness detection module configured to determine whether the subject wearing the support structure is unconscious. The WCD system further includes an interactive bystander module configured to, responsive to a determination that the subject wearing the support structure is unconscious, generate a first voice prompt inquiring as to a presence of a bystander.

Abstract: A transcutaneous nerve stimulation system includes a multifunctional earphone assembly that receives a sound signal from a sound source or other sources (such as a signal generator). An amplifier receiving the sound signal from the sound source or independent signal generator amplifies the sound signal to generate an amplified electrical signal. A stimulator, which includes multiple conductive electrode contacts, is coupled to the amplifier to receive the amplified electrical signal. The electrode contacts may protrude from an earbud/headphone or extend from an adjustable probe arm. The amplified electrical signal is used to apply electrical stimulation while the earphone assembly emits audible sounds according to the sound signal. The combined functionality enhances compliance with treatment regimens involving electrical stimulation of vagus nerves and other regions of a subject. Potential indications include, without limitation, major depressive disorder, epilepsy, chronic pain, pre-diabetes, insomnia, cardiovascular disorders, tinnitus, autism, daily stress, and anxiety.

Abstract: Provided herein are methods and systems and related devices and compositions for electrochemical control of viability of redox active bacteria. The electrochemical control is performed by applying to a working electrode contacting a medium known or suspected to comprise the redox active bacteria, a reducing potential which is lower of the midpoint potential of a redox active compound produced by the redox active bacteria.

Abstract: The disclosure describes devices and methods for providing transdermal electrical stimulation therapy to a subject including positioning a stimulator electrode over a glabrous skin surface overlying a palm of the subject and delivering electrical stimulation via a pulse generator transdermally through the glabrous skin surface and to a target nerve or tissue within the hand to stimulate the target nerve or tissue within the hand so that pain felt by the subject is mitigated. The pulses generated during the electrical stimulation therapy may include pulses of two different magnitudes.

Abstract: A WCD system is configured to detect when a therapy administered to a patient by the WCD system is unsuccessful, and in response determine whether to send notifications to remote non-witness responders. The WCD system may be configured to decide to send such notifications after the WCD system determines it has administered a predetermined number of unsuccessful shocks to the patient. The predetermined number of unsuccessful shocks may be the maximum number of unsuccessful shocks the WCD system will administer to a patient, or every Xth shock (e.g., 3rd shock). The WCD system can be configured to periodically resend the notification. The notifications may be in the form of SMS, voice messages, emails, app notifications, etc. sent to cell phones, smartphones, computers, laptops, tablets, etc. of the responders either directly, via a server, or via a CAD-coupled server.

Abstract: An electrode assembly that includes an electrically conductive layer, a first impedance reduction system, and a second impedance reduction system. The electrically conductive layer forms an electrode portion of the electrode assembly and a first surface to be placed adjacent a person's skin. The first impedance reduction system is configured to dispense a first amount of an electrically conductive gel onto the first surface of the electrically conductive layer in response to a first activation signal. The second impedance reduction system is configured to dispense a second amount of the electrically conductive gel onto the first surface of the electrically conductive layer in response to a second activation signal.

Abstract: A device for the transcutaneous electrical stimulation of the trigeminal nerve is provided. The device has an elongated symmetrical support with at least one electrode pair, and the support can be applied on a person's forehead in the supraorbital region to cover the afferent paths of the supratrochlear and supraorbital nerves of the ophthalmic branch of the trigeminal nerve. Each electrode pair contacts a self-adhesive conductive gel that at least partially covers one surface of the support for attaching the support to the forehead to be applied to two lateral zones with the exception of an insulating central zone. Each lateral zone has one electrode of the electrode pair, an electric circuit for supplying to the electrode pair electric pulses that have a predefined intensity, and a measurement means for measuring the intensity of the supplied pulses that is connected to the electric circuit.
