    摘要: A bowling ball launcher has a frame and a rail oriented from a front of the frame to a back of the frame. A push pad is configured to slide along the rail. An elastic mechanism is coupled to the push pad and extends toward the front of the frame. A winch is coupled to the push pad toward the back of the frame. The winch includes a motor, a winch wheel, and a cable extending from the winch wheel to the push pad. The winch also includes a clutch between the motor and winch wheel. A shock absorber is disposed near the front of the frame. A plurality of position sensors is attached to the frame along the rail. A power meter is configured to move the push pad to one of the position sensors by operation of the winch.

    摘要: In one embodiment, a distributed bowling center system includes two or more computing devices associated with respective bowling center peripherals. The bowling center peripherals are any electronic or mechanical device in a bowling center capable of detecting a bowling event or receiving input. Example bowling center peripherals include a pinsetter, a monitor, a bumper, a keypad, or a touchscreen. The bowling center peripherals are configured to perform at least one bowler center function. The computing devices are configured to execute at least one process related to a bowler center function of the associated peripheral. Each computing device is located physically closer to the peripheral than the other computer device. The computing devices are in communication via a network. The computing devices are configured to access a process map defining the communication, which is responsive to the at least one bowler center function.

The gutter includes a bumper surface that functions as a bumper when said inner edge is raised from a lower position to a fixed upper position higher than the adjacent lane surface. One or more illumination sources may be disposed along the surface of the gutter and bumper surface. A portion of said bumper surface is approximately parallel with the surface of a bowling ball on the bowling lane when the upper surface is in the upper position.

    摘要: A bowling alley bumper system which can be used for conventional bowling and for bumper bowling includes a bumper on each side of the alley. These bumpers are movable between an extended positioned to prevent a bowling ball from falling into a gutter and a retracted position for ordinary bowling. The system also includes a plurality of air cylinders and an electrical actuator for moving the bumpers between the two positions. In a preferred embodiment of the invention, a computer which is included in an automatic scorer, automatically raises and lowers the bumpers before and after an individual bowler who elects bumper bowling and at the same time elects to bowl with regular bowlers.

    摘要: A laser bowling ball guiding apparatus includes a projector, a laser beam emitted from the projector, and a diverging lens or at least one movable mirror for receiving the laser beam and projecting the laser beam onto a surface of a bowling alley and onto bowling pins so as to display a proper release point, trajectory and impact point for a bowling ball to follow. The apparatus can also employ a control mechanism connected to the projector for controlling transmitting of the laser beam. The projector is generally mounted to a ceiling or on a tripod. The control mechanism is adapted to receive an input of information and is operable to calculate the proper release point, trajectory and impact point for the bowling ball to follow. The diverging lens converts and projects the laser beam into the form of a line onto the surface of the bowling alley and onto the bowling pins. The movable mirror transmits the laser beam in the form of a dot and undergoes oscillatory and/or rotary movement to thereby cause a line to form on the surface of the bowling alley and on the bowling pins.
