    摘要: An object of the present invention is to provide a method of discriminating singly-charged ions from multiply-charged ions by the use of an ion trap type mass spectrometer which is an inexpensive mass spectrometer. This object is achieved by a mass-analyzing method using an ion trap type mass spectrometer which is equipped with a ring electrode and one pair of end cap electrodes and temporarily traps ions in a three-dimensional quadrupole field to mass-analyze a sample, comprising a first step of applying a main high frequency voltage to said ring electrode to form a three-dimensional quadrupole field, a second step of generating ions in said mass analyzing unit or injecting ions from the outside and trapping ions of a predetermined mass-to-charge ratio range in said mass analyzing unit, a third step of applying a supplementary AC voltage having a plurality of frequency components between said end cap electrodes and scanning the frequency components of said supplementary AC voltage, and a fourth step of scanning said main high frequency voltage and ejecting ions from said mass analyzing unit and detecting thereof. With this, chemical noises can be reduced dramatically.

    摘要: The present invention relates to a sample plate that is preferably constituted by a metal plate on which a membrane is affixed by a conductive double-sided tape. In the case where a sample, developed on a medium such as an electrophoresis gel, is transferred onto the membrane, in the same manner as a conventional blotting operation, a medium such as gel and the sample plate are sandwiched between flat plate electrodes so that the medium and the membrane are made in closely contact with each other, and a voltage is applied between both of the electrodes. Thus, the sample developed on the medium is transferred on the membrane through electrophoresis. Upon laser desorption ionization mass spectrometry, the sample plate is compatibly used as a plate for mass spectrometry.

A relatively high AC or RF voltage is applied to the electrodes forming the first ion trap in order to improve the trapping of energetic or high mass to charge ratio ions. The relatively high AC or RF voltage applied to the first ion trap also has the effect of raising the low mass cut-off of the first ion trap. The second ion trap, arranged downstream of the first ion trap, is arranged to have a lower low mass cut-off than the first ion trap, and hence ions which are not trapped in the first ion trap are trapped in the second ion trap.

    摘要: The invention covers a method for detecting ions in high resolution time-of-flight mass spectrometers which operate with secondary electron multiplier multichannel plates and in which many single spectra are acquired and added to produce a sum spectrum. The invention involves (a) using an analog digital converter (ADC) for converting electron currents from secondary electron multipliers, instead of a time-to-digital converter (TDC) which was previously used for highest possible signal resolution, (b) performing a separate rapid peak recognition procedure for the ion signals of each spectrum by a fast calculation method, thereby collecting flight time and intensity value pairs for the ion peaks, and (c) constructing a time-of-flight/intensity histogram, which is further processed as a composite time-of-flight spectrum. The invention retains the significantly higher measurement dynamics of an ADC and achieves the improved resolution capability of a TDC, but without showing the latter's known signal distortion due to dead times.
