    摘要: A rotating drum apparatus for the mixing and processing of materials, the rotating drum apparatus comprising: a rotating drum (12) arranged with the length of the drum and the axis of rotation of the drum extending along the horizontal; an inlet at a first point on the drum (12) for receiving materials prior to mixing and/or processing; a screw (14) within the drum (12) for mixing the materials whilst conveying them lengthwise along the drum (12), wherein the screw (14) includes a helical blade extending along the length of the drum (12) with the outer edge of the helical blade being fixed to the inner surface of the drum (12) such that material can be conveyed and mixed in separated volumes (16) between each turn of the screw blade (14); an outlet at a second point along the drum for discharge of materials after mixing and/or processing; and a plurality mixing devices (18) for promoting mixing of the material in each of the separated volumes (16) of material as the material is conveyed along the screw (14), wherein the plurality of mixing devices (18) are spaced apart along the blade of the screw (14), and wherein there is at least one mixing device (18) for each turn of the screw blade (14).

    摘要: An improved blending apparatus for blending of wood strands in the manufacture of engineered wood products. The blending process is performed with a rotating blending drum with an internal offset spike/paddle roll. The spike/paddle roll is substantially parallel to the longitudinal axis of the drum, extends for some, all, or substantially all of the length of the drum, may rotate in either direction, and can rotate independently of or in conjunction with the rotation of the drum. The roll has a central cylinder or rod with a number of paddles, spikes, and/or tines, separately or in combinations, extending from the exterior. The paddles, spikes, and/or tines may extend at various angles and directions, including, but not limited to, substantially right angles. The paddles, spikes, and/or tines may be made of any suitable materials, including, and may be made of different materials. The rod may be driven by an external or internal motor or drive, or powered by the rotation of the drum itself.

    摘要: A batch mixer for mixing concrete materials into a mixed concrete includes a mixing drum having a plurality of paddles fixed to the drum for rotation with the mixing drum about the longitudinal axis of the mixing drum. The paddles include mixing paddles oriented to urge the concrete materials away from the outlet opening at the second end of the drum when the mixing drum is rotated in the mixing direction, and at least one shearing paddle which is oriented at less than 25 degrees from the longitudinal direction of the mixing drum. The shearing paddles has a main body portion interrupted by shearing apertures through which concrete material are directed and an inner edge which is discontinuous and interrupted by longitudinally spaced teeth.

    摘要: A rotary drum configured for the efficient blending, cooling, and screening of granular products having an outer cylindrical shell, an intake end, and an exit or discharge end. The rotary drum is normally rotated at a predetermined speed by means of a conventional drive package. Disposed on an inner surface of the cylindrical shell is a plurality of compound helical flights and scoops or lifts, configured to blend granular product as it cascades from the intake end to the discharge or exit end of the rotary drum. A coaxially disposed cylindrical air passage adjacent the discharge end of the rotary drum, comprising an inner cylinder, that directs a counter flow of cooling air through the rotary drum towards the intake end, for cooling the cascading granular product as it approaches the screening segment of the rotary drum. The rotary drum having a plurality of discharge ports and grading screens just before its discharge end, provided in the surface of the outer cylindrical shell adjacent to the discharge end, to allow for the passage of air for attaining dust collection, while the counter flowing cooling air passes through the internally arranged inner cylinder to achieve the cooling effect within the rotary drum.

    摘要: The invention is a method and an apparatus for the sterilization and/or heat treatment of product with the product being introduced in batches into a pressure vessel which lies substantially horizontal. A method in accordance with the invention includes providing a pressure vessel having a jacket and a helical vane arrangement along inner surface of the pressure vessel; placing a batch of the product in the pressure vessel; closing the pressure vessel and evacuating air therefrom, heating and pressurizing the vessel by supplying steam to the jacket of the pressure vessel to sterilize the product, the heating and pressure treatment occurring for a given period of time as a function of the product being treated therein; rotating the pressure vessel which causes a mixing/movement of the product to form particles of the product by contacting the product with the helical vane arrangement to produce movement of the product in opposite directions from one end of the pressure vessel to the other in response to rotation of the pressure vessel in a single direction; relieving pressure from the pressure vessel; and emptying heat treated particulate product from the pressure vessel.

    摘要: A rotary drum mixer mixes product matter in a particulate form. A scoop section for the mixer has scoop blades which are radially enclosed by a peripheral wall which rotates with the drum. A stationary hood includes an outer face portion which covers the end wall of the scoop section and a peripheral portion which covers the peripheral wall of the scoop section, but neither the outer face portion nor the peripheral portion of the stationary hood contact product matter. The scoop blades are relatively flat and are angled into the direction of rotation. A back section is also included for the scoop blades. A seal assembly is positioned toward the inner diameter of the scoop blades and biases radially outward. The seal assembly may alternatively be positioned at the outer diameter of the scoop section, and/or the seal member may alternatively be biased radially outward. An inflatable bladder is used to radially bias the seal member against a hoop. Either the hoop may rotate with the scoop section and the seal member maintained stationary, or the seal member may rotate with the scoop section and the hoop maintained stationary.
