    摘要: A separator for separating a flowable suspension in a centrifugal field into at least two flowable phases of different density. The separator includes a housing, which is stationary during operation and is designed as a tank having at least three openings. The three openings include an inlet for an inflowing suspension and two outlets vertically spaced apart from each other for flowable phases of different density. Annular spaces of the housing are associated with the two outlets. A rotatable drum is arranged within the housing and has a vertical axis of rotation. The drum has three openings, corresponding to the openings of the housing. A multi-part support and drive device, which keeps the drum suspended within the housing, is supported and is set into rotation. An air gap is formed vertically between the two outlets and annular spaces of the housing during operation. The air gap is not filled with one of the outflowing phases during operation when the drum is rotating.

    摘要: A centrifugal extractor of non-contact journaled construction is provided in which, even under the environments of corrosive gase and mist-like liquid such as nitric acid mist generated in the reprocessing of a spent nuclear fuel, no problem in corrosion or deterioration of parts occurs and high reliability is obtained, and operation is enabled for a long period of time free from maintenance. A rotor 12 housed in a rotor housing 10 is journaled by a main shaft 14 and rotated and driven by a motor 16. The main shaft is surrounded by a drive-portion housing 30, and has a thrust magnetic disk 36 on the upper end and radial magnetic disks 46, 48 and a motor-rotor portion 54 in the circumference thereof. Thrust bearing electromagnets 38a, 38b, radial bearing electromagnets 50, 52 and a motor stator portion 56 are incorporated into the drive-portion housing, and covered by non-magnetic anticorrosive protective plates 40, 42, and a protective pipe 64, the motor-rotor portion being also covered by a protective can 58. Slide bearings 66, 68 for touch down made of fluorocarbon resin are disposed on the upper end of the main shaft and on the inner wall of the drive-portion housing in the vicinity of the upper end of the rotor.

    摘要: In a horizontal centrifuge, a bowl rotates in the same direction as a screw internally of the bowl. The bowl and screw connect to a three input gear box which rotates the bowl and screw at a small differential, or the scrolling rate. A separate motor running at a variable rate connects to the third gear box input and thereby reduces the scrolling rate. A feedback loop connects to the motor to vary the motor speed so that the scrolling rate is varied. A maindrive motor rotates the bowl which then couples through the gear box to rotate the screw and thereby furnish the power to rotate the bowl and screw.

    摘要: A system of bypass passages adjacent bearing means in the drive system of an ultracentrifuge which operates in a vacuum environment. The bypass passages or channels are designed to prevent the establishment of a pressure differential across the bearings in the drive system when a vacuum is being pulled or exists around the drive system when it is operating. The unique bypass system prevents the loss of lubricating material within the drive system during air evacuation of the drive system and the rotor chamber when a vacuum environment is being established within the rotor chamber. Also, the bypass system promotes a more uniform and constant flow of lubricating medium in the bearings.

    摘要: A device for the separation of gaseous mixtures into components of differing molecular mass. The device is designed according to the principle underlying a turbine or a turbomolecular pump. The device has a rotor that is equipped with discs made of magnetic material having blades at their periphery and is installed in a stationary casing having a gaseous mixture inlet and at least two gas outlets connected to a gas delivery tube, and to whose inside wall stator discs are attached between the rotor discs. The device further has voltage means. The gas delivery tube has controls connected thereto which keep the total pressure in the gaseous mixture below 10 Pa.
