Abstract: A chromatographic device including a coated metallic frit is disclosed. The coating is provided over the fluid exposed surfaces of the frit, thereby covering metallic surfaces to prevent interaction with an analyte in the flowstream. This technology relates to the use of a vapor deposition coated frit together with an uncoated frit in a liquid flow path for improved chromatography. More specifically, this technology relates to liquid chromatographic devices for separating analytes in a sample having a single coated frit within an uncoated metallic fluidic flow path (i.e., the column tube or channel is formed of stainless steel, titanium (pure or alloyed), or some mixture of stainless steel and titanium) and does not include the coating applied to the frit.

Abstract: A method of forming a coating on a food or beverage container, which includes spraying a coating composition onto an interior surface of the food or beverage container, where the coating composition includes a latex copolymer and a metal drier or crosslinking agent. The latex copolymer is a reaction product of monomers that include (a) one or more styrene-mimicking monomers containing one or more cyclic groups and one or more ethylenically-unsaturated groups, at least a portion of such styrene-mimicking monomers being polycyclic monomers containing ring unsaturation, and (b) one or more other ethylenically-unsaturated monomers. Preferably, the coating composition is substantially free of each of BPA, PVC, other halogenated monomers, and optionally styrene. The method may also include curing the sprayed coating composition, thereby providing the coating on the interior surface of the food or beverage container.

Abstract: The presently disclosed methods provide for preparing a stable hydrophobic self-assembled monolayer (SAM) coating, that includes preparing a SAM solution by combining a SAM compound with an initial solvent and an additional solvent and mixing, in a sealed container, the SAM solution at a first fixed temperature at a constant rotational speed for a first fixed time interval. The SAM coating is then prepared by treating a substrate to achieve pristine state, and heating the substrate at a second fixed temperature for a second fixed time interval. Then within a sealed container, immersing the substrate in the SAM solution for a third fixed time interval. Following the completion of the third fixed time interval, the substrate is removed from the sealed container and treated with the initial solvent and the additional solvent to remove excess SAM material, and heated at a third fixed temperature.

Abstract: Systems and methods for protecting threads of metal pipes while coating the metal pipes with a protective coating are disclosed herein. Innovative metal couplings are used to protect the threads while a protective coating is applied to the metal pipes. The couplings are reusable and result in multiple efficiency improvements over previous methods and systems. Benefits include elimination of plastic caps and reduced waste, improved flowthrough in the powder coating process, more efficient thermo transfer in the thermal chamber, and an increase in the overall capacity of the powder coating operation.

Abstract: A method for forming a film on a surface of a steel sheet includes applying a treatment solution for forming a film containing a fibrous material to the surface of the steel sheet by using a coater under a condition in which a difference between a speed of the steel sheet and a speed of an applicator of the coater is 1.0 m/min or more, inclining the surface of the steel sheet, to which the treatment solution for forming a film has been applied, at an angle of 10° or more with respect to a horizontal plane until drying is started, and thereafter drying the steel sheet.
