    摘要: A method is for producing a circular cylindrical body (10) comprising a workable mass, having at least one helical internal cavity extending in the interior of the body. The body (10) is initially produced with a straight internal recess, for example by means of extrusion. Afterwards the body is cut to a defined length. The body (10) that has been cut to length is then subjected to a rolling process by means of a friction surface arrangement (23) while being supported over the entire length thereof on a support means (16). The rolling process takes place in multiple steps, wherein a rolling movement using a first axis of rotation (25) is performed in a first step, and a rolling movement using a second axis of rotation (26) that is different from the first axis of rotation is used in a second step. There is also an apparatus for performing the method.

    摘要: A self-drilling/self-tapping fastener which is suitable for attaching a sprinkler system to a metal supporting structure has a driving head and an integral shank with a threaded portion. Process-hardening and threading of the shank harden the shank to a degree of hardness that retains sufficient ductility for resisting vibration loads. The drill tip at the end of the shank and the lead threads adjacent the drill tip are locally hardened to a relatively high degree of hardness for drilling and tapping the metal support members. A graduated transition zone separates the high-hardness zone from the lower-hardness zone, which allows for a single fastener to exhibit two distinctly different material properties in one fastener. The fastener through this dual process also exhibits two distinct load-carrying capabilities.

At the end of the forming process, the work piece with its inside, open cooling channels, is expelled and a new operation starts.

    摘要: A method for producing a twist drill has the following steps. A blank is shaped to form a semi-finished product. The semi-finished product is formed from a core, coaxial with the drill axis, having a radius and a number of webs, arranged on the core, having a height. The semi-finished product has a constant cross section along the drill axis. The webs have a first portion which adjoins the core and in which a width of the web remains constant or decreases in the circumferential direction with increasing radial distance from the drill axis. The webs have a second portion which adjoins the first portion and in which the width of the web increases in the circumferential direction with increasing radial distance from the drill axis. The webs of the semi-finished product are shaped into helical segments using a plurality of rolling tools that annularly enclose the semi-finished product and roll on the webs along the drill axis. The rolling tools have teeth that are inclined with respect to the drill axis. A height of the helical segments is less than the height the webs. Helical segments formed from adjacent webs are in contact with one another in a closing fold. The invention also relates to a twist drill.
