Abstract:
A method of bonding a mini-core to a surface of a core is provided. The method includes providing the mini-core with an attachment device that includes a protrusion of a surface of the mini-core, dipping the protrusion into a supply of paste to transfer a fixed quantity of paste to the protrusion and affixing the protrusion to the surface of the core with the fixed amount of paste interposed between the surface and the protrusion.
Abstract:
A casting apparatus includes a first drive unit closing or opening an upper mold and a lower mold, a second drive unit tilting the closed upper mold and lower mold, an optical sensor and a control unit. When the optical sensor detects an object during a casting period after molten metal is supplied to the upper mold and the lower mold tilted by the second drive unit until the molten metal is cooled, the control unit does not shut off power supplies to the first drive unit and the second drive unit, causes the first drive unit to continue mold closing and causes the second drive unit to hold the tilting position.
Abstract:
A flaskless molding machine includes: an upper sand tank storing the mold sand to be supplied to the upper molding space; a first lower sand tank storing the mold sand to be supplied to the lower molding space, and having a first communication port for discharging the stored mold sand; a second lower sand tank having a second communication port capable of communicating with the first communication port of the first lower sand tank, and storing the mold sand supplied from the first lower sand tank and to be supplied to the lower molding space; at least one first guide member extending in a vertical direction, and guiding the upper flask, the lower flask and the second lower sand tank in the vertical direction; and a second guide member extending in the vertical direction, and guiding the first lower sand tank in the vertical direction.
Abstract:
Disclosed is a cylinder liner having a high bonding strength to a cylinder block. Further disclosed is a method for producing the same. The cylinder liner uses a silicon-aluminum alloy as a material; a plurality of protrusions are formed on the external surface thereof; and the protrusions each contain a pillar section extending from the external surface, and a head section formed at the end of the pillar section.
Abstract:
A method of manufacturing a golf club head can include: creating a mold of the golf club head; forming two or more portions of a model of the golf club head using the mold, each of the two or more portions of the model include a part of a body of the golf club head and at least one first alignment mechanism; assembling the model of the golf club head using the at least one first alignment mechanism of each of the two or more portions of the model to align the two or more portions of the model, the model comprises the body of the golf club head and a joined alignment mechanism, the joint alignment mechanism comprises the at least one first alignment mechanism of each of the two or more portions of the model; using the model of the golf club head to create a cast for the golf club head; removing the model of the golf club head from the cast; and using the cast of the golf club head to create the golf club head with the joined alignment mechanism; and removing the joined alignment mechanism from the golf club head. Other embodiments are disclosed.
Abstract:
A positioning station supports a sand mold half while centering using two sets of moveable arms. A gripping structure having two inwardly facing pads are each mounted for rotation about a common axis on separate axles. The pads remain in a fixed angular relationship to one another throughout rotational movement. Each pad has plural individual compressible fingers and a fixed fulcrum structure pointing inwardly towards the opposite pad and adapted to grip a sand mold half by engaging the surface of the sand mold half. The gripping structure is lifted away from the platform sufficient to allow a second sand mold half to be placed on the platform and then the gripping structure is lowered to accurately mate the two mold halves.
Abstract:
A finger core for forming the front part of a knuckle for a railcar, said finger core comprising a single opening to form a single rib at the horizontal center line of the resulting knuckle.
Abstract:
A die brace and method of use thereof for securing the relationship of one or more die tie bars and an associated back plate of a movable die core, such as a die core of a metal casting die. Embodiments of such a die brace generally include a collar that is adapted to fit over the die tie bar(s), a back plate bracket element that is adapted for affixation to a die core back plate, and a bracing leg that connects the collar to the bracket element.
Abstract:
The object of the invention is to provide an apparatus for setting a core, a molding machine, and a method for setting a core where the configuration of the apparatus and the machine is simplified and the accuracy of the core-setting is high. The apparatus is one for setting a core in a molding machine that comprises an upper flask, a lower flask, a match plate clamped between the upper flask and the lower flask, and an upper and a lower squeezing member for forming molding spaces by having the upper and lower squeezing members be inserted into the upper and lower flasks, respectively, wherein a core is set in the lower mold in a state that the upper mold, the lower mold, and the match plate are separate from each other, the apparatus comprising: a jig for a core having a means for holding a core and a rotary shaft and being rotatably supported by the rotary shaft wherein the means for holding a core detachably holds the core at the jig; and a carriage for a core for rotatably supporting the rotary shaft of the jig and being transported to and from a position above the lower mold; wherein an actuator for elevating the match plate transported between the upper flask and lower flask elevates the jig for the core and the carriage for the core that are transported to a position above the lower mold, which actuator is attached to the molding machine.
