    摘要: A multiply-acting powder metal press is disclosed for making green form double helical gear compacts. The press has inner and outer lower punches, and an upper, outer punch. The upper and lower outer punches have left hand and right hand external helical profiles as chosen to produce a desired helical gear. The punches co-operate with left hand and right hand helical dies carried by the press about the punches. The helical faces require that the dies rotate relative to the punches during operation. A cam and roller mechanism may drive this rotation. The compact forming process commences with an open position in which powder is introduced to a vacant lower die cavity. The upper portions of the press advance downward to close the cavity. All parts of the press except the lower inner, or transfer, punch then move downward at the same speed to transfer powder to the extremities of the cavity. When transfer is complete both lower punches may be stopped, while the upper punches continue to advance. The dies advance at half the speed of the upper punches, rotating partially as they do so. Once the powder reaches its compacted density the upper and lower punches cease motion, but they dies continue to turn, separating themselves and compressed part. Finally the part is ejected and the press returns to the initial condition.

    摘要: A elastically and reversibly deformable rubber mold for producing powder compacts is made of a material at least a part of which is a mixture of rubber and magnetic powder. In use, this rubber mold filled with the magnetic powder and subjected to a magnetic field and pressure with punches, thereby compressing the powder to form powder compact. This makes the distribution of magnetic field in the cavity of the rubber mold more homogeneous, and therefore, the distortion, cracking and chipping caused by inhomogeneity of the distribution of the magnetic field are reduced, so that the shape of the resultant powder compact is closer to the end product.

    摘要: Process for the production of a component, in which metal or ceramic powder (6) is applied under centrifugal force to the inner wall of a gas-permeable mold (13), which is under reduced pressure and is located in a reduced-pressure vessel (10), and precompacted, after which the mold (13) is removed from the vessel (10) and sintered. The mold (13) consists of a heap of ceramic grains with an organic binder having high strength between room temperature and a temperature just below the sintering temperature, in order to support the powder (6) to be sintered to give the component. When sintering starts, the binder evaporates or burns away, as a result of which the mold (13) substantially loses its supporting action for the component. Binder: aminolic, phenolic, furan resin.

    摘要: In a die, punch and core rod assembly for a powder compacting press wherein the core rod or rods remain stationary while the punch or punches are reciprocable relative to the die, the invention provides individual longitudinal position adjustment for the core rods by clamping the end of the core rods in a collet-like threaded member such as a slotted set screw threading in a threaded bore in a core rod support member. The core rod support member is preferably in the form of a pair of plates one bolted below the other. The end of each core rod is immobilized in its adjusted position by being disposed in an axial bore in the collet-like threaded member and by being clamped between the sidewalls of a longitudinal slot extending part of the length of the set screw, as a result of the tendency of the slot to close when the set screw is driven through the lower plate with its tapered end engaged with a tapered surface at the end of an aligned bore in the upper plate.

    摘要: The specification describes an apparatus for transferring pressings to be sintered from a press to a sintering support. A suction lifter carries out a movement coupled with a movement of a filling device and pressing die. The lifter receives the pressing in synchronism with the movement of the press from the die and moves it away from the press. A take-over means arranged upstream from the press receives the pressing from the suction lifter. The take-over means passes the pressing received from the suction lifter and lying on the take-over means, onto the sintering support in synchronism with the movement of the press. A receiving means for the sintering base carries out a movement making possible continuous close packing on the sintering support by the receiving means. A control means serves to control the movement of the receiving means in synchronism with the movement of the press.

    摘要: An apparatus for receiving particulate matter of metal and producing a compact article therefrom. While the formation of a billet is shown, a contoured article could be produced if the proper configuration was formed on mating die faces. Particulate material is received in a hopper where it can be treated by gasses to aid in removing bulk water. To remove any gasses which would react with the material in an undesirable way, means are provided to place the hopper and transfer means under a vacuum for outgassing. Means are provided to transfer the metal particulate to a press means, at a controlled rate, while placing the particulate matter at the desired pressure and proper temperature. The press means also includes means for receiving a container. The container will encase the billet after the particulate matter has been compacted. Means are provided to remove the completed billet after a top has been placed on the container and sealed. This sealing can be done by welding the top, or cap, thereon under vacuum condition.
