    Abstract: A resistance spot welding method for joining two or more steel sheets including at least one zinc-coated steel sheet. The method includes a first current applying step and a second current applying step. The first current applying step involves forming a nugget having a nugget diameter of 3√t or more and 4.5√t or less by setting a current value I1 (kA) and a weld time, where t is a thickness of the thinnest steel sheet among the overlapping steel sheets. The second current applying step involves growing the nugget by repeating a cooling step for maintaining a zero-current state for 10 ms or more and less than 160 ms and a current applying step for applying a current for 20 ms or more and less than 200 ms at a current value I2 (kA) greater than or equal to the current value I1 (kA).

    Abstract: The present disclosure inhibits liquid metal embrittlement (LME) cracking in a welded joint obtained by spot welding a first steel sheet and a second steel sheet. In the welded joint of the present disclosure, a first plating layer is provided on a surface of the first steel sheet facing the second steel sheet, no plating layer is present on or a second plating layer is provided on a surface of the second steel sheet facing the first steel sheet, and a boundary plating layer is provided between the first steel sheet and the second steel sheet in a range of 0.5 mm from an end part of the corona bond toward an outside of the spot welded part. A higher tensile strength of a tensile strength of the first steel sheet and a tensile strength of the second steel sheet is 780 MPa or more, an area ratio of a η-Zn phase at the cross-section of the boundary plating layer is 5% or more, and the first plating layer and the second plating layer satisfy predetermined Relations I and II.

    Abstract: Disclosed is a method for manufacturing a welded member in which a workpiece made of a high tensile material and a welding object are welded. The method includes welding the workpiece and the welding object such that welded portions are formed between the workpiece and the welding object by performing projection welding. The method also includes applying a cancellation stress to the welded member after the projection welding, so that a stress that is generated in the welded portions after the projection welding and acts in a direction to pull the welded portions close to each other is canceled.

    Abstract: A system for increasing joint strength and reducing embrittlement in a resistance spot weld of metal workpieces is disclosed. The system comprises a stackup of first and second metal workpieces, and an interface member disposed between the first and second metal workpieces. The interface member comprises a peripheral wall defining a hollow inner portion. The peripheral wall has a first open end extending to a second open end. The first open end is in contact with the first metal workpiece defining a first weld portion thereon. The second open end is in contact with the second metal workpiece defining a second weld portion thereon. The system further comprises a first electrode configured to contact the first metal workpiece to heat the peripheral wall at the first weld portion and join the first metal workpiece with the first open end of the peripheral wall. The system further comprises a second electrode configured to contact the second metal workpiece to heat the peripheral wall at the second weld portion and join the second metal workpiece with the second open end of the peripheral wall to define a weld joint. The system further comprises a power source configured to power the first and second electrodes and a controller configured to control the power to the first and second electrodes to heat the peripheral wall.

    Abstract: To provide a method and apparatus for manufacturing a joined member that inhibit occurrence of cracks in a joined member even when the joined portion is quenched when members are welded together. The method includes placing the first member D and the second member E with a joint target portion Df and a joint target portion Ef being in contact with each other, welding the joint target portions by heating, subjecting the first member D after the welding to a process for inhibiting occurrence of cracks, and tempering a portion where the first and second members have been welded to each other by electromagnetic heating. The apparatus includes a first electrode 11 to contact with the first member D; a second electrode 12 to contact with the second member E; and an induction heating coil 23 for performing induction heating of a portion where a joint target portions Df and Ef have been contacted and joined to each other, and the induction heating coil 23 is placed between the two electrodes 11 and 12 when the induction heating is performed.
