    摘要： There is disclosed a veneer lathe comprising a pair of spindles one of which spindles is powered to impart rotating torque to the log and the other of which is non-powered and rotatable with the log, means for detecting the rotation of the non-powered spindle and providing a detect signal, and control means which is operable in response to the detect signal to control the knife carriage feed. The lathe further includes means for detecting the rotation of the powered spindle and providing a detect signal, and means for comparing the detect signals from the two detecting means and providing a control signal, if the difference in angular velocity between the spindles exceeds a predetermined value, thereby to cause the knife carriage to stop its feeding operation.

A milling head is provided with a plurality of cutting elements mounted in a circular arrangement on a conical face portion thereof. The head is supported with its axis of rotation so oriented with respect to the workpiece that when rotated the cutting elements move in a path the plane of which forms an angle of less than 90.degree. with the longitudinal axis of the workpiece.

    摘要： A cam grinding machine rotates a workpiece by using a servomotor which is capable of being rotated at a variable speed. A memory device stores data of rotational speeds of the workpiece corresponding to angular positions thereof in order to maintain the circumferential speed of the workpiece constant. A detecting device detects an angular position of the workpiece. A counter is responsive to the detecting device and reads out rotational speed data stored in the memory device in order to apply the same to the servomotor.

    摘要： The invention concerns a control apparatus for machines designed to operate on a workpiece. The apparatus comprises a programming element consisting of a disc which has concentric tracks of varying transparency or reflectance; an optical scanner comprising an emitter unit emitting light beams to the programming element and a receptor unit for the light beams which have been transmitted or reflected; drive means for rotating the disc by the relative displacement of a tool and the workpiece; and an electric circuit connected to the receptor unit and to a motor for controlling the speed of rotation of the motor as a function of the intensity of the signal given by the receptor unit. The apparatus is applicable in particular to machines for working on plates, pieces of glass or plastics material, for example window panes, plate glass or lenses.
