Abstract: A grit blasting arrangement for cleaning chemical reactor tubes includes means for ensuring the grit blast nozzle is coaxial with the longitudinal axis of the tube to be cleaned. The grit blasting device for cleaning tubes spaced apart by upper and lower tubesheets. The grit blasting device includes a grit blast nozzle mounted on a positioning frame and projecting outwardly with an outlet directed into a tube opening during a cleaning operation. The device includes a plurality of stop pins mounted on the positioning frame designed to abut a tubesheet and to define an imaginary plane coplanar with the tubesheet. The plurality of stop pins when abutting the tubesheet prevent the outlet of the nozzle from extending into the tube causing a venturi effect.

Abstract: A sphere precision machining device and a machining method comprise a cavity, an abrasive grain stream, and a circulation device. The cavity holds the workpiece, and comprises two hollow hemispheres, each of said two hemispheres being provided with a main flow channel. Said main flow channel is connected to the cavity. One end of the main flow path of each of the two said hemispheres is connected to a circulating means by which a stream of abrasive grains is made to grind the workpiece. A plurality of main flow channels are disposed homogeneously inside the hemisphere, each of said main flow channels being provided with a plurality of branch flow channels connected to the cavity, said branch flow channels tapering in the flow direction. The present disclosure uses the difference in abrasive grain flow pressure on the surface of the workpiece to achieve precision machining.

Abstract: Methods and systems for cleaning inner surfaces of tubes in a heat exchanger. Some systems include a cleaning device having a nozzle configured to inject cleaning fluid into first and second tubes to perform different first and second cleaning cycles on the tubes, respectively, a controller configured to determine delivery parameters for the cleaning cycles based on a characteristic of each tube, and to control the cleaning device to perform the cleaning cycles based on the delivery parameters. Some methods include determining, with a controller, a tube in the heat exchanger engaged with a nozzle of a cleaning device for injecting a cleaning fluid into the tube during a cleaning cycle, a characteristic of the tube, and a delivery parameter of the cleaning cycle for the tube based on the characteristic of the tube; and performing the cleaning cycle for the tube based on the delivery parameter.

Abstract: A system and method for cleaning of heat exchanger tubes including an assembly, an indexer, and a communication device provided with specialized software and programming. The indexer includes orthogonally arranged first and second arms. A trolley and sensors are provided on the indexer arms. One or more lances are provided on the trolley to deliver water jets into the openings. Sensors measure displacement as the trolley is moved relative to the heat exchanger's face plate. An operator controls the system from a distance away using the communication device. During setup, the pattern of the face plate is learned and mapped utilizing information from the sensors as one of the inputs. This information is utilized to help navigate the face plate during a subsequent cleaning operation. A kit for retrofitting existing X-Y indexers is also disclosed.

Abstract: System for reduction of dimensional end-taper in abrasive blasted tubes has a pressurized chamber maintaining higher air pressure inside the chamber than atmospheric pressure, an air-exit port allowing gases to exit the chamber at a controlled rate, a valve restricting passage of gases from the air-exit port, a pressurized membrane through which the tube passes creating a seal, a gauge port where pressure inside the pressurized chamber is monitored and a media-exit port allowing evacuation of abrasive blast media particles after being expelled from the exit-end of the tube. The system addresses dimensional end-taper as high back pressure at the exit end of the tube reduces velocity of the gases and abrasive particles carried in it, thereby reducing erosion of the inner walls of the tube near its exit end. The system can be employed with a wide range of tube sizes and in combination with several abrasive blasting techniques.

Abstract: A hydrodynamically optimized mixer module, to be coupled to a deterministic hydrodynamic tool that allows pulsed polishing of optical surfaces is described. This module allows the supply of abrasive foam or fluid that enters the tool to be interrupted without impairing the operational stability of the polishing process and of said hydrodynamic tool. The mixer module includes at least one interrupter element for switching high-velocity fluids; a first inlet through which air is injected under pressure and in a controlled manner; a second inlet through which a polishing fluid is injected in a controlled manner, said polishing fluid filling a predetermined volume with a hydrodynamically optimized shape and being transferred to a mixing zone where, together with the pressure-injected air, an abrasive foam is produced that is injected into at least one rotational acceleration chamber of the hydrodynamic tool to which the mixer module is coupled.
