Abstract:
A cylindrical mask may be fabricated using a hollow casting cylinder and a mask cylinder. The casting cylinder has an inner diameter that is larger than the outer diameter of the mask cylinder. The casting and mask cylinders are coaxially assembled and a liquid polymer inserted in a space surrounding the mask cylinder between the inner surface of the casting cylinder and the outer surface of the mask cylinder. After curing the liquid polymer, the casting cylinder is removed. A surface of the cured polymer can be patterned. It is emphasized that this abstract is provided to comply with the rules requiring an abstract that will allow a searcher or other reader to quickly ascertain the subject matter of the technical disclosure. Abstract:
An apparatus for inverting the stop flange on a tamper-indicating closure, from an axially outwardly oriented position as molded to an axially inwardly oriented position for use, includes a support base for supporting the closure such that the stop flange as molded is spaced from and oriented away from the support base. A pedestal is movably carried by the support base at a position spaced from the support base. A locator ring is carried by the pedestal and movable with the pedestal to engage the stop flange on a closure carried by the support base and to bend the stop flange radially inwardly. An inversion ring moves through the locator ring to engage and invert the stop flange that is bent radially inwardly by the locator ring.

Abstract:
An arrangement for rolling the frontal end of a deformable sleeve-shaped container jacket comprises a supporting surface which radially supports the container jacket in the area of its end. A ring-shaped cavity is arranged radially adjacent thereto, which cavity is closed at the bottom and open at the top. The cavity has an essentially semicircular cross-section. The cavity is provided in circumferential direction with a plurality of pocket-shaped recesses in the transitional area between the supporting surface and the bottom, between which recesses rolling ridges, as part of the original cavity surface, remain. The purpose of this design is to effect a reduction in the deformation forces when the frontal end of the container jacket is being rolled.
Abstract:
The present invention provides a heat insulated vessel (A) which is suitable for containing convenience food which can be cooked by hot water, or food or drink which is desired to be eaten or drunk while it is hot, and also a method of producing the vessel. The heat insulated vessel (A) of the present invention is made of a formed product of a foamed synthetic resin. An annular flange is continuous with an opening edge of a bottomed cylindrical portion, and a curled portion which is thinner than the bottomed cylindrical portion and which has a curved section shape is continuous with the annular flange. Preferably, the thickness of the curled portion is 1.5 mm or less. In the production method of the present invention, a skirt portion of an intermediate formed product which is made of a foamed synthetic resin is made thinner than a barrel wall portion of the bottomed cylindrical portion, and the skirt portion is gradually sent in a groove which is made in a forming die and in which the width is gradually reduced, in a direction from a larger groove width to a smaller groove width, while rotating the skirt portion in the groove and heating the skirt portion, thereby forming the skirt portion into a curved section shape to make the curled portion.

1,072,185. Seaming non-metallic sheet material. KALLE A.G. Oct. 7, 1964 [April 1, 1964], No. 40922/64. Heading B5K. [Also in Division B8] Juxtaposed flattened marginal zones of body and lid portions of thermoplastic containers are joined for subsequent ready separation and reclosing, by being heated and then curled together to form inter-engaged beads. Two opposed rims may be so joined or a single rim 9 of two hinged members, Fig. 12. Containers fed forward by a conveyer 2 have their margins or rims on one or both sides fed into a slot in a heating element 5a followed by the initial stage of the curling device 5b, the slot 14 of which gradually reduces as the bore 12 moves towards the container as at 5c, Fig. 7. The stage 5b may also include heaters 11 and a bore 13 for cooling process may be provided in the final stage.
Abstract:
A sheet laminate that can be easily affixed to a bonded surface and which can enhance handleability. The sheet laminate (1) includes a pair of sidewall parts (3), each extending toward the rear surface (2b) side from a pair of mutually opposing edges of the main body part (2). The pair of sidewall parts 3 have a curved shape projecting outward with respect to the main body part (2). Including such a sidewall part (3) makes it possible to affix the sheet laminate (1) to the B-pillar (50) by sandwiching the side surfaces (50b) of both sides of the B-pillar (50) having a bonded surface (50a) by using the curved shape of the pair of sidewall parts (3) while covering the bonded surface (50a) with the design surface of the main body part (2). As a result, the sheet laminate (1) can be affixed easily to the bonded surface (50a), which enhances handleability of the sheet laminate (1).

Abstract:
The invention relates to a method for forming a mouth roll (2) to a cup (1) made of plastic-coated board and to the cup provided with a mouth roll produced by the method. The mouth roll for stiffening the cup is produced with a suitable striking tool bending the board at the mouth of the cup. In accordance with the invention, the mouth roll is additionally stabilized by melting the plastic coating (8) of the board under heat so that the opposite surfaces of the board adhere to each other by heat-sealing in the area of the roll. Melting can be performed e.g. by hot-air blasting directed to the mouth roll at is production stage.
Abstract:
A lip rolling apparatus for open-mouthed stacked thermoplastic containers is disclosed. One particular apparatus includes components for presenting a nested stack of containers having unrolled lips to a rim roller, engaging individual cups on a screw assembly, heating a supply of air in a heater to a desired temperature, discharging the supply of heated air toward the containers as they are engaged on the screw assembly, and rolling the lips of the containers in the screw assembly. The present invention may be designed to prevent the screw assembly from operating until the supply of air reaches the desired temperature. Additionally, the heater (e.g., a forced air heater) may be moved between an initial position proximate the nested stack of containers and a safety position in response to a signal. Such a signal may be generated in response to a temperature sensor, system error, or any other such triggering episode.
