    摘要: A tire molding apparatus having a hollow rotary shaft, a plurality of first drum segments are arranged substantially in the form of a cylinder around the front end portion of said rotary shaft. The second drum segments are paried with the first drum segments, thus forming a molding drum. A diameter changing mechanism is provided between the rotary shaft and the first and second drum segments for transmitting rotation of said rotary shaft to the first and second drum segments and additionally for moving the first and second drum segments radially. A plurality of threaded shafts, each having both end portions threaded in the opposite directions, are screwed respectively into the first and second drum segments thus paired. Rotation of the threaded shafts causes the first and second drum segments to move towards each other or to move away from each other to change the width of the molding drum. A drive shaft inserted into said rotary shaft allows the drive shaft to rotate separately from the rotary shaft and a supporting member is coupled to the front end of the rotary shaft in such a manner that the supporting member can turn together with the rotary shaft. A plurality of rotating shafts are supported on the supporting member with the rotating shafts being synchronously turned through an angle by the drive shaft. A plurality of transmission members transmit rotation of the rotating shafts to the threaded shafts, respectively.

The drum further includes a pair of annular rubber sealing members for hermetically sealing space defined by the green case and the pair of drum units and each having a radially inner end portion, a radially outer end portion and a bellows portion intervening between the radially outer end portion and the radially inner end portion, the radially inner end portions being supported by the drum units, the radially outer end portions being tightly received in the annular grooves formed in the arcuate drum segments.

    摘要: A fluid expandable drum for building portions of tires in a tire building machine includes an annular supporting drum and an expandable annular tube element having an inner peripheral surface supported on the annular drum. The tube element includes an outer peripheral surface upon which support means is secured for movement therewith. A plurality of shoe members are connected to the support means for movement therewith with the shoe members defining an annular building surface thereon which is movable in a radial direction toward and away from the annular support drum upon contraction and expansion, respectively, of the tube element. The tube element is expanded to expand the diameter of the building surface to enable a tire portion to be built thereon and retracted to decrease the diameter of the building surface to enable a build tire portion to be removed therefrom.

    摘要: A tire component building machine includes a rotatable hub with a plurality of circumferentially spaced circular segments each having the same radius of curvature and each including a stem mounted on the hub for radial movement. A stud passing through and removably secured to each stem includes a projecting portion engaging a spiral cam, one end of each stud being exposed on a common side of the stems whereby each stud may readily be removed and the segments replaced by another set of segments each having another same radius of curvature. A drive assembly mounted on the hub rotates the hub and cam relative to one another radially to expand and contract the segments. In addition, the maximum expansion of the drum may be precisely regulated by an adjustable stop. A gap shield is provided to present a continuously firm circular work surface.

    摘要: A simple low cost building drum, free of axially movable parts for building tires and cylindrical articles having inextensible beads of given diameter therein but spaced axially any selected distance apart, has a single axially and circumferentially continuous radial expandable membrane overlying a thick-walled cylinder of deformable rubbery material the full axial length of which is expandable radially to wrap the membrane against beads placed about the drum and to divide the membrane into a non-inflatable center section and two inflatable end sections each axially outboard of a respective bead. The thick-walled cylinder is expanded radially by inflating an axially extending cylindrical sleeve within control members in the form of four semi-cylindrical strips which prevent bulging outward of the central portion of the thick-walled cylinder and which engage cylindrical flanges of a pair of end rings spaced along the drum's center shaft.

    摘要: A machine for building pneumatic tires including an expansible type drum having two shoulders to support the carcass zones on the bead cores; an expansible helical spring associated with each shoulder to oppose the axial components of thrusts directed towards the interior of the carcass generated by the shaping of the carcass and two bells which face each other and have an inner profile axially narrower than the freely shaped carcass. The bells extend radially for a portion of the height of the section of the completely shaped carcass and abut the carcass sides during the shaping thereof. The bells may be provided with a projection one portion of which is an annular band having an outer diameter substantially equal to the outer diameter of the carcass at the end of its free shaping and a width such as to leave on the shaped carcass an axial gap astride the middle plane of the drum whose width is less than the width of the tread and the breaker. As an alternative embodiment to projections on the bell there may be opposing flanges supporting annular bands in which the flanges are moveably positioned axially outside the bells. The expansible helical spring is expanded radially by bringing together two conical surfaces and correspondingly contacted by separating the two conical surfaces.
