Abstract: A composite panel includes woven fabrics and a polymer composite. The polymer composite includes Poly(methyl methacrylate) (PMMA). The woven fabrics includes basalt fibers. The basalt fibers are mineral-additive modified. Mineral-additive modified basalt fiber based PMMA composites are used for ballistic applications. Alternatives layer of aramid fabric and mineral additive modified basalt fabric based PMMA composites are also used for UV resistant ballistic applications. Lightweight sustainable sandwich ballistic panel are achieved by a reactive thermoplastic route.

Abstract: The present invention relates to a floor mat comprising a substrate layer, a gel layer and a cover layer, wherein said substrate layer, said gel layer and said cover layer have a substantially planar shape, and wherein said gel layer is coupled in between said substrate layer and said cover layer, and wherein the cover layer comprises a plurality of deformations, which deformations protrude at least partly towards the center of the gel layer. In further aspects, the invention relates to a floor mat wherein the thickness of the gel layer and the thickness of the substrate layer are related according to a ratio of between 1:20 and 20:20, as well as to methods for manufacturing a floor mat.

Abstract: Thresholds for flooring in an aircraft are described herein. An example aircraft includes a subfloor, first flooring material on the subfloor, second flooring material on the subfloor, and a threshold at least partially between the first flooring material and the second flooring material. The threshold includes a vertical body portion having a top surface, a bottom surface, a first side surface, and a second side surface. The vertical body portion has a concave area extending into the second side surface at the bottom surface, and wherein a second edge of the second flooring material extends into the concave area. The threshold also includes a ramp portion extending from the first side surface. The ramp portion has a decreasing thickness from the vertical body portion to a distal end of the ramp portion. The ramp portion is positioned between a portion of the first flooring material and the subfloor.

Abstract: Provided is a covered stent manufacturing method including: disposing an inner cover inside a stent body having a mesh structure formed by knitting wires, the stent body having engagement portions, each of which is formed by hooking two bent portions of the wires with each other; disposing an outer cover outside the stent body; forming a slack portion that expands in a radial direction of the stent body in at least one of the covers, the slack portion creating slack that allows movements of the two bent portions in a longitudinal direction and the radial direction of the stent body in at least one of the covers; and joining the covers with each other in regions on an inner side of the mesh of the mesh structure.

Abstract: The disclosure relates to embodiments of an apparatus for producing polymer composite panels. The polymer composite panels include one or more layers of a polymeric matrix having discontinuous fibers embedded therein. The apparatus has a frame, a deposition bed, and a deposition head configured to move relative to the frame and over the deposition bed. The deposition head includes at least one extruder and a nozzle array. The extruder is configured to force the polymeric matrix and discontinuous fibers through the nozzle array and onto the deposition bed. The deposition head is configured to deposit an entire layer of a polymer composite panel on the deposition bed in a single pass so that the discontinuous fibers are oriented in the direction of the single pass. The disclosure also relates to embodiments of a method of forming a polymer composite panel and to embodiments of a polymer composite panel.

Abstract: An aerosol-generating system including a cartridge is provided, the cartridge including a liquid storage portion including a housing configured to hold a liquid aerosol-forming substrate, the housing having an opening; and a heater assembly including at least one heater element fixed to the housing and extending across an opening of the housing, wherein a width of the at least one heater element of the heater assembly is smaller than a width of the opening of the housing. The heater element may be spaced from a periphery of the opening, leading to more efficient heating and aerosol production.
