Abstract: A print station includes a chamber in which a cardboard sheet transits, two first support elements for an inking roller on internal faces of two opposite and facing walls of the chamber, at least two second support elements for the inking roller on the internal faces of the two walls, and a carriage positionable inside the chamber for restingly receiving the inking roller. The print station also includes an automatic system for moving and positioning the inking roller whether in a raised operating position, below a print roller; in a first lowered position at the first pair of support elements, for releasing or collecting the inking roller; in a second lowered position at the second pair of support elements for releasing or collecting the inking roller; or in a third lowered position at the carriage for releasing or collecting the inking roller.

Abstract: A substrate is printed with front side and back side markings in a first color ink. The front side when viewed with reflected light includes a first marking printed in a first saturation and a first symbol printed in the first saturation. The back side when viewed with reflected light includes: a second marking printed in a second saturation; a second symbol printed in the second saturation; a third marking printed in the first saturation; and a third symbol printed in the first saturation. The first marking, the second marking, and the third marking are printed to provide an interlocking pattern of low saturation color and high saturation color when viewed with transmitted light. The second symbol is visible, and the first symbol and the third symbol are visible and indistinguishable, when viewed with transmitted light.

Abstract: Based on evaporation of fountain solution from a rotating blanket cylinder to create an image that may be inked and printed, a digitally addressable heater array at or just below the blanket surface evaporates deposited fountain solution and forms a fountain solution latent image on the surface. The heater array has controllable heating elements (e.g., field effect transistors, thin film transistors) that provide a transient heat pattern on the surface to evaporate the fountain solution. Heat is generated by current flow in the heating elements, and power developed by the heating circuit is the product of source-drain voltage and current in the channel. Current may be supplied along data lines by an external voltage controlled by digital electronics to provide the desired heat at heating elements addressed by a specific gate line. The heater array may include a current return line that may be a 2-dimensional mesh.

The base is internally provided with a heating section capable of generating heat for heating the printing plate, such that the printing plate in contact with the ink cup assembly is maintained at a set temperature, and ink in the ink cup assembly in contact with the printing plate can also be kept at the set temperature in the process of pad printing.

Abstract: A gravure printing unit, which is usable for printing on a substrate, according to a gravure printing method, includes a forme cylinder which comprises, on its circumference, an image-forming pattern of recesses, and an inking unit, by the use of which the pattern of recesses provided on the forme cylinder is inked. The forme cylinder can be partially inked from an inking device via a first inking unit cylinder which has recesses in the region of its outer cylindrical surface that correspond to recesses on the forme cylinder, and via a second inking unit cylinder, which cooperates with the first inking unit cylinder and which comprises ink-transferring elements or raised areas on its circumference. For controlling the transfer of ink, the first inking unit cylinder having the recesses, is configured as being temperature controllable or has a temperature control device in the ink unit supply. Alternatively, a printing pressure between inking units cylinders can be varied during operation. The invention also relates to a method for adjusting or modifying a transfer of ink and for operating the gravure printing unit.
