摘要： A printing apparatus comprises a platen, a dot impact print head (23) opposite to the platen, a mask plate (40) between the platen and the print head with a paper passage between the platen and the mask plate (40), and an ink ribbon (31) between the print head and the mask plate. Transport mechanisms are provided to move the mask plate (40) in a direction substantially perpendicular to said paper passage between a first position on the print head side and a second position on the platen side, the transport mechanisms being responsive to the position of the print head along the platen. In the first position of the mask plate a relatively wide gap between the platen and the mask plate enables easy paper insertion, while in the second position a relatively wide gap between the mask plate and the print head facilitates replacement of the ink ribbon without problems.

摘要： In apparatus for thermally transferring ink from a ribbon, having backing and ink donor layers, to a letter, wherein the apparatus includes a frame, a thermal printhead and a printhead backing roller, there is provided an improvement for urging a ribbon and letter into engagement with one another. The improvement includes the printhead backing roller connected to the frame for rotation in engagement with a letter fed between the roller and a ribbon, and the printhead backing roller including a body portion adapted to flex when engaging a letter for urging a letter into contact with the ink donor layer of a ribbon. Moreover, it is of the invention that the roller body portion include at least one channel formed therein.

摘要： A thin metal ribbon shield for mounting in a standard data processing printer ribbon guide. The ribbon shield has a short insert tab and a long insert tab, and is particularly designed for ease of installation and removal. The thin metal ribbon shield is durable and permits printhead gap settings from the paper of the minimum distance capable in a printer. The ribbon shield is unlikely to kink during installation or removal because the stress when bending the shield is at the juncture of the long insert tab and the ribbon shield, rather than down the middle of the shield face.

摘要： A recording apparatus preferably usable for desk-set type electronic calculator, computer, word processor, electronic typewriter or the like of the type having a platen detachably incorporated therein. The platen is operatively connected to an upper case. When it is to be removed from the apparatus, the case is first removed and the platen is then displaced away from the operative position by a turning movement in accordance with a removing movement of the case. Recording paper can be placed on the lower guide surface which is exposed to the outside. On completion of placing of the recording paper the case is closed together with the platen by way of the reverse steps until the platen assumes the operative position. To assure that the recording paper is stably held on the lower guide surface even after the platen is displaced away from the operative position, the base board is formed with an opposing pair of semispherical projections on the inner side walls. The platen may be raised up away from the operative position in the vertical direction instead of a turning movement. To inhibit the recording paper from becoming contaminated with ink, a contamination inhibitive plate is interposed between the platen and the printing belt or ring. It is preferable that the contamination inhibitive plate is raised up under the effect of resilient of coil springs at the same time when the platen is displaced away from the operative position.

The printing head swivels between a work position and an insertion position at which the color transfer band and the recording carrier are inserted into the apparatus and the scraper device is supported in the vicinity of the printing base so that it will retain a position between the color transfer band and the printing carrier when the print head is swiveled into the insertion position so that during insertion of the color transfer band and the printing carrier, the scraper means is retained therebetween while the print head is supported on the color transfer band and the printing base during swiveling into the work position.

摘要： An improved ribbon shield for use with a ribbon cassette in a printer. The shield snaps into the front of a ribbon cassette so as to cover an exposed portion of ribbon and prevent the smudging or wicking of ink onto a printing medium. The ribbon shield includes an elongated strip of flexible material such as polypropylene having a central aperture to enable the ribbon to pass through it for printing purposes. The shield includes a lower curved lead-in portion to accommodate paper motion past the cassette. The shield is held within the ribbon cassette in a flexible state. The flexed portion of the shield contacts the printing medium and forces it into close contact with the platen. Improved performance can be obtained by providing spacing ridges in the form of rings which surround the aperture.

摘要： In a device for columnar printing of selected characters in rows on ticket stock using a print drum having rows of raised characters disposed about its periphery in arcuate columns and an impactor assembly having a ballistic element cooperating with each row of raised characters, the ticket stock is selectively advanced into registration with the print drum and ballistic elements for imprinting and is sheared by a cylindrical cutter mechanism thereafter, the positioning of the ticket stock after imprinting and before shearing being determined by a detector that is positioned between the print drum and the arcuate cutter. The sheared ticket then is propelled from the printer by means of an ejection mechanism.

摘要： A ribbon protector is used for protecting paper from contamination by an ink ribbon in a printer, where the protector is inserted between paper located between a platen and a printing head. The printing head facing the platen performs spacing movement for printing. Two connected plate-like elements are provided with through openings for passage of the pin of the printing head. Mutually engageable electroconductive elements are provided on the inner walls of the two plate-like elements, at least in the area where they are compressed by the tip of the printing head, and spacers which are made from resilient materials are located between the two plate-like elements.
