摘要： There is disclosed an improvement in a system for sensing information encoded on a duplicating original, using the information to control copy processing. A duplicating original is installed onto the surface of a cylinder revolving in the duplication process. The encoded information, in the form of indicia printed on the original, is sensed by an optical read head arranged to scan the revolving cylinder. Signals indicating the position of the revolving cylinder are used to determine when to scan for information. Finally, the information sensed, e.g., the copy quantity, is used to control the processes of the duplicating machine. The manner in which the encoded information is arranged conforms to the writing capabilities of a computer output printer, which is preferably also used to prepare the body of text material being duplicated, and the read head is arranged to sense the thus applied indicia and reproduce the information accurately, allowing wide latitude for correct placement of the information. Hand encoding by an operator is also easily performed.

摘要： The device has means producing a synchronizing pulse in synchronism with rotation of a cylinder of the printing machine and responsive to completion of each revolution of the cylinder, timing means producing a time signal responsive to completion of the inking time of the printing machine, and a push button switch operable to initiate feeding of the sheets. A ''''stop feeding'''' signal is produced responsive to printing of a preset number of sheets and conicident with a synchronizing pulse, or responsive to a lack of synchronism of the sheet feeding and the synchronizing pulse, or responsive to operation of a ''''stop'''' push button switch coincident with a synchronizing pulse. The synchronism is checked by a checking circuit including means producing a signal responsive to the termination of feeding of each individual sheet.

摘要： An automated offset lithographic duplicating machine permits to automatically mount a master or lithographic plate on a master cylinder, to apply ink repellent etching solution to the mounted master or lithographic plate in a time predetermined by the operator, and to perform a number of sequential duplicating steps of a duplicating cycle. The washing of a blanket cylinder, constituting the final step of the duplicating cycle of a lithographic plate, is performed in a time predetermined by the operator before the cylinder automatically stops. The number of copies to be duplicated for each lithographic plate is indicated by an indicator after marks on the lithographic plate, for indicating the number of copies to be duplicated, are read by a device provided in the machine. When the number of copies indicated by the indicator has been duplicated, washing of the blanket cylinder is automatically initiated.
