摘要: A universal temporary wheel is provided that has a universal aperture pattern that is adapted to mate with different configurations of lug bolt patterns to enable the wheel to be used with various wheel hub configurations having various lug bolt patterns. The universal temporary wheel can be installed while a damaged wheel is being repaired to allow an automobile or other vehicle to be moved. Because the universal temporary wheel has a universal aperture pattern, the wheel can be used with a variety of wheel hub configurations and lug bolt patterns, thereby eliminating the need to stock a variety of temporary wheels having various aperture patterns.

摘要: A two-piece rail wheel assembly is disclosed herein that allows a tire to be replaced without requiring disassembly of the rail vehicle or removal of components directly attached to the axle. In various embodiments, the rail wheel assembly comprises a center wheel hub attached to an axle of a railway vehicle and a tire configured to engage the rail. The center wheel hub and the tire may be bolted together via a stepped (or recessed) interface. When used with in-board bearing configurations, this rail wheel assembly does not require using a press machine, detaching the truck assembly from the rail car, or detaching the wheelset from the truck. When used with out-board bearing configurations, this rail wheel assembly eliminates the need to use a press machine or remove any other components of the wheelset from the axle.

摘要: A hub bearing unit includes an inner ring having inboard and outboard axial ends and a bearing inner race on an outer surface. An outer ring disposed about the inner ring has inboard and outboard axial ends and a bearing outer race on an inner surface. One ring is coupled with a wheel and rotatable about an axis and the other ring is fixedly coupled with a frame. A plurality of rolling elements is rollable upon the inner and outer races. A displacement limiter extends radially from one ring and has a frustoconical stop surface spaced radially from a surface of the other ring. The limiter stop surface engages with the ring surface when the ring displaces radially and/or axially relative to the other ring to prevent brinelling impacts on the bearing races. Preferably, the displacement limiter is located axially between the rolling elements and the ring inboard ends.
