    摘要： The present invention is directed to a glass shearing apparatus. One application of the glass shearing apparatus is in vehicles. The apparatus comprises a handle provided at the vehicle door. The handle is coupled with at least one shearing means. The shearing means comprises a housing in which a window pane is supported. The shearing means further comprises a shear bolt that is coupled with the handle via a cable. In case of an emergency, the occupant of the vehicle actuates the handle thereby causing the cable to be tensioned, and the tensioned cable provides a drive to the shearing bolt, wherein the threadable engagement between an opening of the housing and the shearing bolt causes the translation of the shearing bolt within the opening. The translation of the shearing bolt within the opening is such that it eventually contacts the window pane and subsequently shears the window pane.

    摘要： An emergency exit latch is disclosed for locking and unlocking a portal such as a window or door and sending a signal to a remote point when the portal has been unlocked. The latch includes a latch operator which is rotatably mounted on the portal. The latch operator includes a tang which is integral with the operator and performs a locking function by mating with means associated with the frame when the latch operator is rotated into the locked position. When the operator is put in the locked position, the tang also actuates a switch. Thus, when the operator is rotated out of the locked position, the switch changes state and provides an indication that the door is no longer properly locked. In the preferred embodiment, the design of the exit latch is such that the switch will change state even before the window has become completely unlocked.

    摘要： The side, end or floor of a house trailer is provided with an opening when being constructed or cut thereinto if completed which is closed by an escape door. The latching mechanism is constructed for rapid opening in case an occupant must hurriedly escape from the trailer interior. This may be caused by someone forcing entrance into the trailer, by fire, by failure of the trailer door to open or for any other reason where the occupant is away from the door and must leave the trailer on very short notice. The door is preferably spring pressed, hinged at the bottom and approximately seven feet long and 28 inches high. The door is latched by a releasable latching mechanism which is operated by pushing on an adjacent knob to open an area through the wall or floor of a size to permit the occupant to crawl or roll through the opening to escape from the trailer interior.

    摘要： A vehicle cab includes a window designed to be removed from its framework so as to permit the egress of an operator in the event that the vehicle is involved in an accident and other cab exits are blocked. The inside of the window is provided with a latch comprising a bar mounted in the cab for movement between a stored position adjacent the window and out of engagement with a latch pin fixed to framework within the cab and a latched position wherein a notch located in the bar receives the pin, the latching bar then extending to a position requiring the back of the operator's seat to be pivoted forwardly to remind the operator to unlatch the window once he enters the cab to operate the vehicle.
