A cam (70) pivots the strap (50) about the pivot connection (59, 62) and effects movement of the part (36) toward the piston rod (58) as the piston (78) and the piston rod move in the first direction.

    摘要: An operating system and method for a vehicle safety device that includes a housing having a duct, one or more pistons in the duct and a gas generator that has two stages. The first stage is ignited conventionally, but the second stage is ignited automatically with a delay directly responsive to the first stage ignition. The gas generated is fed to a common space in the housing where it drives the piston(s). Each piston has an associated axially spaced thimble with a load limiter between. A cable is connected to each vehicle safety device and to each thimble. When the system is operated, each piston is driven to move its associated thimble away to draw the cable from the associated vehicle safety device to actuate it. However, if a counter force on the cable becomes excessive, the thimble moves closer to the piston and the excessive pressure is relieved under the control of the load limiter.

    摘要: An assembly of seat belt buckle and a seat belt tightener has a seat belt buckle that is connected to a seat belt tightener by a pulling element. The pulling element is firmly connected within a buckle casing to a buckle mechanism of the belt buckle. The pulling element, in a region directly adjacent to the buckle casing is at least partly enclosed by a cover. The cover has an exterior shape that is tapered towards a direction in which the buckle is pulled during a seat belt tightening process. The external dimensions of the cover in the region of its larger cross section approximate the external dimensions of the adjacent end of the buckle casing and in the external dimensions of the cover in the region of its smaller cross section approximate to the external dimensions of the pulling element. Put another way, the taper of the cover approximates a taper defined by the external dimensions of an adjacent end of the buckle casing and the external dimensions of the cable over the length of the cover.

A retractor urges the webbing in a winding direction while simultaneously permitting the webbing to be drawn out in an unwinding direction when in a normal state and prevents the webbing from being drawn out when acceleration of the vehicle becomes greater than a predetermined value. A bypassing mechanism is arranged above the seat back. A pretensioner is included in the retractor. The retractor is arranged above and rearward from the seat back. The webbing extends between an upper position of the seat back and the retractor bypassing the bypassing mechanism. The webbing is disengaged from the bypassing mechanism when forward acceleration becomes greater than a predetermined value. The pretensioner is activated to quickly draw in the webbing in response to the forward acceleration.

The actuator includes a mass member attached to said moveable end of said seat belt, a main actuator unit adapted to move said mass member in a direction to remove a slack from said seat belt immediately upon detection of a frontal vehicle crash, and a cushioning member for decelerating a movement of said mass member following a certain initial travel of said mass member. The main actuator produces an early rise in the vehicle occupant deceleration, and the cushioning member smoothly connects the time history of the vehicle occupant deceleration to a ride-down condition whereby the deceleration acting on the vehicle occupant is favorably spread over time, and the maximum level of the deceleration can be minimized. The mass member contributes to a favorable shaping of the time history of the vehicle occupant deceleration.
