    摘要: A master cylinder wherein an input force applied to a bearing assembly pushes and rotates an input piston into a bore of a housing through the engagement between a helical groove on its outer surface and a pin on the housing to act on a primary piston in the bore that supplies pressurized fluid to wheel brakes. A threaded connection that connects the input piston to a primary master cylinder piston has an opposite direction thread from that of the helical groove in the input piston and as a result the input piston moves at a different rate of travel within the bore than the primary piston such that initial movement of the input piston is accentuated in the movement of primary piston and after a predetermined travel of the input piston into the bore, the input piston and primary piston travel in unison to effect a brake application.

    摘要: A fluid accumulator for a brake system includes a housing. A piston is movably mounted in the housing, the piston and housing defining a fluid chamber. A port leads through the housing to the chamber. A spring or other biasing element forces the piston towards one end of the housing. In one embodiment, one end of the spring is mounted to a rod which extends from the housing. The position of the rod maybe changed to change the spring biasing force on the piston. A brake system includes a balance bar actuating two master cylinders, each providing fluid to a fluid line leading to one or more braking mechanisms. An accumulator is located along one of the lines for accumulating fluid and preventing brake lock.

    摘要: In a brake operating device, a lever ratio changing apparatus interconnects a brake pedal assembly that has a brake pedal lever pivotally connected to a support structure at one end with a brake pedal member connected at an opposite end and a brake booster device. The lever ratio changing apparatus includes a connecting member, a guide member and a pivot pin element. The connecting member is movably connected at a first end to the brake pedal lever between the pivotal connection and the brake pedal member and an opposite second end movably connected to the brake booster device. The guide member is fixedly connected to the support structure. The pivot pin element is connected to the connecting member and is slidably movable within the guide member. As the brake pedal assembly moves from a non-braking position to a braking position, a leverage ratio R/r varies wherein R is defined as a first distance measured between the pivotal connection and the brake pedal member and r is a second distance measured between the pivotal connection and the pivot pin element.

    摘要: A dual-piston hydraulic brake master cylinder includes a large hydraulic piston which supplies an initial large brake fluid volume and a small hydraulic piston which continues to supply brake fluid to the brakes when the large piston stops moving forward in its cylinder at higher brake pressures. The small, central hydraulic piston is connected to the end of a piston rod extension of a pneumatic booster piston. The large piston surrounds the small piston and opens a reservoir line tilt-valve in the piston retracted position. A passageway between the large and small hydraulic chambers is open in the retracted position to allow communication of braking fluid therebetween. During brake actuation a seal arrangement interrupts this communication. The large and small hydraulic chambers supply the brake circuits through delivery passages.

    摘要: According to the present disclosure a variable ratio parking brake control has a foot operated lever with a cam slot. A guide member is pivotally connected to the lever and it also has a cam slot. A clevis that is connected to a parking brake cable has a bearing pin which is slidably supported within the cam slots of the lever and the guide member. A spring is supported by the guide member and exerts a spring force urging the clevis to the outer ends of the two cam slots. The clevis is slidable from the outer ends of the cam slots to the inner ends of the slots in response to both displacement of the lever from a brake released position to a brake applied position and a load on the clevis that exceeds an amount determined by the force of the spring. The displacement of the clevis from the outer end of the cam slot of the lever to the inner end of the slot increases the mechanical advantage ratio of the brake control system. The increase in ratio occurs in response to displacement of the lever and the tension in the brake cable.

    摘要: A dual master cylinder has a secondary piston which when actuated pressurizes fluid in two secondary chamber sections with one chamber section increasing pressure at a faster rate than the other as the piston is stroked. The piston has passage means therein interconnecting the two chamber sections, a proportioning valve mechanism in the passage means acting to proportion fluid pressure from the one chamber section to the other chamber section after a predetermined pressure differential exists in the two chamber sections. A shuttle piston also mounted in the secondary piston is responsive to pressure generated in the one secondary chamber section and in the primary pressurizing chamber between the primary and secondary master cylinder pistons. If a pressure loss is suffered in the primary pressurizing chamber during master cylinder actuation, the shuttle piston moves to render the proportioning valve mechanism inoperative and permit substantially unrestricted pressure flow from the one secondary chamber section to the other secondary chamber section and thence to the fluid brake circuit connected thereto. The shuttle piston also has suitable cams which actuate a cam follower arrangement mounted on the secondary piston which in turn actuates a warning switch mechanism when the shuttle piston is moved in either direction because of a pressure loss in one of the two chambers to which it is pressure connected. The primary pressurizing chamber has an outlet in which a metering valve mechanism is provided, the pressurized fluid then passing to another fluid brake circuit. A modified embodiment of the invention uses a proportioner piston between a single secondary pressurizing chamber and an outlet chamber, with one end of the shuttle piston also functioning to define the small diameter portion of the proportioner mechanism.
