    Abstract: In one embodiment, a system determines a signal fault at a communication bus of an autonomous driving vehicle (ADV). In response to determining the signal fault, the system sends a brake pre-charge command to a brake system of the ADV to pre-charge a brake of the ADV. The system determines a preset tolerance time to validate the signal fault. In response to a time elapse of the preset tolerance time, the system validates the signal fault at the communication bus or determine a signal fault at another communication bus. In response to validating the signal fault at the communication bus or determining the signal fault at the another communication bus, the system sends a brake command to the brake system of the ADV to engage brakes for the ADV.

    Abstract: A road surface assessment apparatus for a vehicle includes an illumination device, a detector, and an assessment unit. The illumination device is configured to emit pattern light to a road surface on which the vehicle runs, or a surrounding of the vehicle. The detector is configured to detect the emitted pattern light. The assessment unit is configured to assess a condition of the road surface, on the basis of the detected pattern light. The illumination device intermittently emits the pattern light for a short time in such a manner that a period of time for which the pattern light is not emitted is longer than a period of time for which the pattern light is emitted.

    Abstract: This electric braking device is provided with: an electric motor MTR that, in accordance with an operation amount Bpa of a braking operation member BP, generates a pressing force Fba, being a force pressing a friction member MSB against a rotary member KTB that rotates integrally with a wheel WHL of the vehicle; and a circuit board KBN to which a processor MPR and a bridge circuit BRG are mounted. The device is further provided with a rotation angle sensor MKA for detecting the rotation angle Mka of the electric motor, and drives the electric motor MTR on the basis of the rotation angle Mka. An end face Mmk of the rotation angle sensor MKA is fixed so as to be in contact with the circuit board KBN. The device is further provided with a pressing force sensor FBA for detecting the pressing force Fba, and drives the electric motor MTR on the basis of the pressing force Fba. An end face Mfb of the pressing force sensor FBA is fixed so as to be in contact with the circuit board KBN.

    Abstract: A brake integrated control section generates, as target values, a target braking force and a target wheel speed equivalent value of each electric brake device, and transmits the target braking force and the target wheel speed equivalent value to a target value transmitter. An electric brake control device of each electric brake device includes a braking force controller that controls an electric motor in accordance with the target braking force, a wheel speed controller that controls the electric motor in accordance with the target wheel speed equivalent value, and a control switcher. The control switcher switches between use of the braking force controller and use of the wheel speed controller in accordance with a predetermined condition.
