Abstract: A vehicle control device of the embodiment includes a recognizer that recognizes a surrounding situation of a host vehicle; and a driving controller that controls one or both of steering or acceleration/deceleration of the host vehicle to cause the host vehicle to travel, wherein the driving controller causes the host vehicle to travel in any of a plurality of driving modes including a first driving mode in which the host vehicle travels so that the speed of the host vehicle reaches a target speed, and the driving controller restricts the execution of at least the first driving mode when a specific object is recognized in a traveling direction of the host vehicle based on map information or a recognition result from the recognizer during the execution of the first driving mode.

Abstract: A navigational system for a host vehicle may comprise at least one processor. The processor may be programmed to receive an image representative of an environment of the host vehicle; analyze the image to identify a navigational state associated with the host vehicle; and determine, based on the navigational state, a navigational action for the host vehicle based on a policy that maps possible navigational actions to sensed states. The navigational action may be based on a safety constraint applicable to the navigational state, the safety constraint including a safety distance constraint associated with the host vehicle, wherein the safety distance constraint is based on a determined speed of the host vehicle and a determined speed of a detected target object. The processor may cause an adjustment of a navigational actuator of the host vehicle to implement the determined navigational action.

Abstract: The various embodiments described herein generally relate to systems and methods for operating one or more self-driving vehicles. In some embodiments, the self-driving vehicles may include a vehicle processor being operable to: control the vehicle to navigate an operating environment in an initial vehicle navigation mode; monitor for one or more trigger conditions indicating a possible change for the vehicle navigation mode; detect a trigger condition; determine a prospective vehicle navigation mode associated with the detected trigger condition; determine whether to change from the initial vehicle navigation mode to the prospective vehicle navigation mode; and in response to determining to change from the initial vehicle navigation mode to the prospective vehicle navigation mode, adjust one or more vehicle attributes corresponding to the prospective vehicle navigation mode, otherwise continue to operate the vehicle in the initial vehicle navigation mode.

Abstract: A method in a vehicle, includes: providing, via an HMI, a request to be followed indication responsive to receipt of a request to be followed from a following vehicle; providing, via the HMI, a request to enter a tether operating mode; entering the tether operating mode and selecting a tether goal between the lead vehicle and the following vehicle; providing, via the HMI, a tether mode indication that indicates that the lead vehicle is in the tether operating mode; monitoring a headway between the lead vehicle and following vehicle; adjusting a preplanned trajectory calculated by a driver assistance system to facilitate the following vehicle obtaining and maintaining the tether goal; modifying driver assistance system operation based on a level at which the headway is greater than the tether goal; and generating control signals for vehicle actuators to control the lead vehicle to facilitate the following vehicle maintaining the tether goal.
