摘要: A tread brake assembly for a rail car includes at least one brake block for pressing against a tread of a corresponding rail car wheel, a piston actuator powered by a fluid for driving the tread brake assembly, a brake rigging for transferring a braking stroke from the actuator piston to the at least one brake block, at least one sensor device for measuring at least one parameter of the tread brake assembly, and the tread brake assembly further includes a stroke detector having an active state in which the stroke detector activates the sensor device, wherein the stroke detector is configured to enter its active state upon detecting a force, stress, strain or motion of the brake block, the brake rigging and/or the actuator.

摘要: A slack adjuster for use with a braking system which has an increased let-out length that enables the use of brake shoes having an increased thickness. The slack adjuster includes a dual spring and canister assembly, an external yoke trigger, or a combination of both the dual spring and canister assembly and the external yoke trigger. A method of retrofitting a truck-mounted brake system is provided, in which the slack adjuster is positioned within the brake system in order to increase the let-out length while maintaining a predetermined spatial envelope within the brake system. The slack adjuster has an increased let-out length enabling the use of thicker brake shoes without requiring modification of the interacting components of the truck mounted brake system since the overall size of the slack adjuster remains the same.

摘要: A drainage system for use with a slack adjuster for a railway brake rigging wherein the slack adjuster includes a main spring housing, a cone nut housing enclosing a critical operating area of the slack adjuster, and an over travel housing. The drainage system includes at least one opening extending through a sidewall portion of the main spring housing. The opening is configured to allow fluid and/or contaminates to drain therethrough to reduce exposure of the critical operating area of the slack adjuster to the fluid and/or contaminants. A seal/splash guard can be provided at the intersection of the main spring housing and the cone nut housing to prevent fluid and contaminants from entering into the cone nut housing.

摘要: Disclosed is a railway braking system including a first pneumatic distribution device formed by a first distributor provided with a single inlet opening connected to a source for supplying pneumatic pressure mediums and with a single outlet opening connected to a parking brake chamber in order to optionally supply a parking brake with a second pneumatic pressure medium so as to place the brake in either of inoperative and operative configurations, and a second pneumatic distribution device formed by a second distributor provided with a single inlet opening connected to the supply source and with a single outlet opening connected to a service pressure chamber in order to supply a service brake with a third pneumatic pressure medium of which the pressure value is predetermined, so as to apply a predetermined braking force when the parking brake is in the operative configuration thereof.

摘要: There is provided a configuration in which an association between a location of each brake shoe of a railway vehicle and each abrasion detection tag is easily learned, and system implementation and management are simplified. A brake shoe abrasion detection system of a railway vehicle includes a computer that receives data of a signal read by a reader from at least one abrasion detection RF tag attached to each of a plurality of brake shoes of the railway vehicle passing the reader. The computer determines an association between a plurality of the signals and the plurality of brake shoes based on an order that the reader reads the plurality of signals from a plurality of the abrasion detection RF tags attached to the plurality of brake shoes, respectively.
