摘要: The instant invention is a deck barge or other vessel formed using a core of styrofoam members stiffened by fiberglass cladding with said styrofoam/fiberglass core being partially clad in concrete, which concrete is reinforced with “L” or “U” shaped rebar over/around corners and which concrete is also sheathed on its exterior and interior sides by fiberglass matting that is concrete saturated during the process in order to produce a simple, easily manufactured design that is unsinkable, inexpensive, and carries substantial weight for its size. In the preferred embodiments, the concrete cladding entirely covers the port and starboard sides as well as the top/deck of the vessel and portions of the bottom.

摘要: The present invention generally provides mold modules for constructing boat hulls, methods of constructing boat hulls using the mold modules, and hulls constructed using the mold modules. The modules may be adjustable, and may be included in a kit for building the hull of many boats of different dimensions but generally the same shape. Each mold module generally comprises a mold in a shape complementary to that of a portion of a boat hull, and an edge mold to form the edge of the hull part formed by that mold module. A mold module according to the present invention may also comprise one or more mold adjustment areas, and calibrators for selecting the boat hull dimensions. Methods for using the aforementioned mold modules generally comprise steps of molding hull parts, removing them from the mold modules, aligning them and finally attaching them together.

摘要: A vessel with drilling and workover capability is constructed rapidly in a shipyard or dry dock by using an existing vessel that has most of the required hull. Bow and stern sections of the existing vessel are separated to leave them at opposite ends of a shipyard space, and a mid hull section is built in that shipyard space in the usual manner by welding together steel plates. The bow and stern sections are moved against opposite ends of the mid hull section and welded to it. Topside equipment is already on the bow and stern sections, and is added to the new mid hull section.

摘要: An ocean profiler that utilizes ocean wave energy to provide power for repeated ascent and descent of an oceanographic instrument. In one embodiment the instrument assembly is provided with either positive or negative buoyancy such that the instrument can traverse one half of the travel cycle rapidly utilizing the buoyancy force. Utilizing wave power for instrument traversing greatly reduces the power requirement of the apparatus allowing extended unattended operation.

摘要: A vessel includes two or more barge form hulls disposed apart vertically one above the other and multiple spaced connecting structural members rigidly inter-connecting the hulls with a gap therebetween. The upper hull provides the necessary buoyancy to support the vessel with the other hull or hulls flooded with sea water and/or other liquids. Waves acting on the vessel may cause a water flow in the space between the hulls and the wave energy may be at least partially dissipated by the action of the water flow between the hulls and on the connecting members.

摘要: A gyroscopic roll stabilizer for a boat includes a flywheel shaft having a first end and an opposite second end. The flywheel shaft has first and second open-ended cavities formed on opposing ends. A first uneven seal encloses the first cavity, and a second uneven seal encloses the second cavity. The first and second uneven seals are both configured to provide asymmetric sealing such that greater resistance is provided against flow in a primary sealing direction, from a first side toward a second side, than in a secondary sealing direction, from the second side toward the first side. The first side of the second seal faces inward toward the second cavity, and the second side of the first seal faces inward toward the first cavity. The first and second seals are functionally inverted relative to each other. Related methods are also disclosed.

摘要: A structural block is fabricated with necessary components and structure for LNG storage and/or process. The structural block may be an LNG tank with the same configuration as that in an LNG carrier. The structural block may also be a regasification plant or a liquefaction plant to be used for LNG process. An existing vessel, e.g. an LNG carrier, is cut apart to form a forward section and an aft section. The forward section and the aft section are moved away from each other to form a space therebetween. The structural block is then placed into the space and jointed to the forward and aft sections, by welding for example, to form an integrated new vessel. The structural block provides the new vessel with increased LNG storage and transportation capabilities as well as regasification and/or liquefaction process facilities to meet the increased demand for LNG storage, transportation and processing.

摘要: A floating structure and method for obtaining same. The structure includes a first plurality of tubes and a second plurality of tubes. The second plurality of tubes are inserted into the first plurality of tubes to extend through the upper portion of same, and both sets of tubes are welded together. The ends of the tubes of the first plurality of tubes are closed in order to be used as flotation tanks when the floating structure is fitted out for such use. The method concerns locking the first plurality of tubes in place on the frame, with pairs of holes in each of the first plurality of tubes being aligned, and a corresponding tube of the second plurality of tubes being inserted through each pair of aligned holes by force. Each of the connection portions or parts contained in the tubes are welded on the periphery of the holes.
