    摘要: A propulsion system for a boat has a powerhead or a motor with an exhaust port for exhaust gases. The exhaust gases are exhausted through the propeller hub via an exhaust housing. The exhaust housing is a walled enclosure having an inlet, an internal volume in flow communication with the inlet, and an outlet in flow communication with the internal volume. The exhaust housing further includes hollow structures for dividing a portion of the internal volume into a plurality of flow channels which extend in side-by-side relationship. The transverse dimensions of each flow channel is substantially less than the transverse dimensions of the walled enclosure. The result is that standing waves are shifted to a higher frequency range. The hollow dividing structures have internal volumes which communicate with space external to the exhaust housing via openings in the walled enclosure, which allow the admission of a cooling medium. The hollow structures increase the stiffness of the walled enclosure of the exhaust housing.

    摘要: A cowl latching system provides a retainer that is attached to the outboard motor and a catch device which is attached to a cowl structure. The catch device is shaped to allow the retainer to move between first and second extension portions. The retainer is provided with first and second retention members that can each move from a retracted position to an extended position under the urging of a resilient member such as a spring. The first and second retention members can also be urged from their respective extended positions to their respective retracted positions by the movement of the first and second extension portions of the catch device when the cowl structure is installed unto the outboard motor. The arrangement of the catch device and retainer simplifies the installation and removal of the cowl structure from the outboard motor by allowing the operator of a marine vessel to more easily and simply move the cowl structure relative to the stationary components of the outboard motor during both the installation and removal procedures.

Means for controlling the exhaust control valve between the first and second position are provided and are controlled in response to a watercraft condition.

    摘要: A tilt stop mechanism for an outboard drive assembly includes an improved construction that is easy to handle and can be provided in a relatively narrow space of a support assembly. The support bracket includes a pair of transversely spaced portions. At least a portion of the outboard drive assembly is interposed between the spaced portions. A tilt pin couples the drive assembly to the support bracket for pivotal movement about a tilt axis extending generally horizontally. A tilt stop member is coupled to the drive assembly for pivotal movement about a pivot axis extending generally horizontally. The tilt stop member has at least one stopper portion extending between the drive assembly and the support bracket when the drive assembly is in a tilted-down position. The support bracket has at least one recess. The stopper portion engages with the recess by the pivotal movement of the tilt stop member when the outboard drive is in a tilted-up position.
