Abstract: The present invention has an object of providing an unmanned aircraft system, control device and control method which can more easily anchor a package to a linear member. An unmanned aircraft system (1) of an embodiment of the present invention includes: an unmanned aircraft (2) including a hoisting mechanism capable of feeding out and hoisting a linear member (31); a flight control unit (61) which causes the unmanned aircraft (2) to take off in a state in which a package (T) anchored to the linear member (31) is arranged on a ground surface; and a hoisting control unit (62) which causes the linear member (31) to be hoisted by the hoisting mechanism (3), after the unmanned aircraft (2) has taken off, in a case of a hoisting condition indicating a state enabling hoisting of the linear member (31) being satisfied.

Abstract: A system for controlling a winch assembly includes a rotatable winch drum with an attached cable. A winch motor is configured to rotate the winch drum. A sensor is configured to generate signals indicative of the number of layers of the winch cable on the winch drum. A winch controller is configured to receive a control input requesting a selected rotation of the winch drum, receive the signals from the sensor, determine a number of layers of the winch cable disposed on the winch drum, and generate control commands to control the winch motor to rotate the winch drum based on the control input and the number of layers of the winch cable. The control command rotates the winch drum to produce a substantially constant line speed based on the selected control input independent of the number of layers determined to be disposed on the winch drum.

Abstract: In an integrated structure of a power source of a power winch and an electric control box, the electric control box of the power winch is integrally combined with the top of the power source by a support frame, and an outer cover is provided for axially covering the electric control box and the power source and locked and connected to a front shell wall, so that the electric control box and the power source are completely hidden in the outer cover without any exposure. In other words, the electric control box is combined with the power source by a hidden assembly mode, so that the electric control box can be securely assembled without any risk of being shaken or falling off. In the meantime, the electric control box is hidden in the outer cover, and thus it will not be affected by weather at all.

Abstract: A method according to certain embodiments generally involves operating a system including an unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV) and a base station. The base station includes a nest including an upper opening having an upper opening diameter and a lower opening having a lower opening diameter less than the upper opening diameter. The lower opening is accessible from within the base station. The method generally includes landing the UAV within the nest such that a portion of the UAV is accessible via the lower opening, releasably attaching a load to the UAV, and operating the UAV to deliver the load to a destination.

Abstract: An example charging station for an unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV), the charging station generally including a nest and a charging device. The nest includes an upper portion and a lower portion. The upper portion defines an upper opening sized and shaped to receive a landing apparatus of the UAV, and a diameter of the nest reduces from a first diameter at the upper opening to a second diameter at the lower portion. The charging device is mounted in the nest, and includes a first contact pad and a second contact pad. The charging device is configured to apply a voltage differential across the first contact pad and the second contact pad such that the charging station is operable to charge a power supply of the UAV via the landing apparatus.
