摘要: A method of producing a particulate lithium metal oxide or lithium metal phosphate material comprising the steps of providing one or more metal compounds, adding sufficient water to dissolve the one or more metal compounds to form a metal compound solution, adding a first basic solution, a second basic solution and the metal compound solution at predetermined rates to a reaction vessel containing water to form a reaction mixture, heating the reaction mixture while maintaining a pH of the reaction mixture in a predetermined pH range, adding a lithium compound, adding a fatty acid, filtering a precipitate, washing and preferably drying the precipitate, calcining the dried precipitate in an atmosphere containing oxygen to form a calcined lithium metal oxide or lithium metal phosphate, cooling and sizing the calcined lithium metal oxide or lithium metal phosphate to produce a particulate lithium metal oxide or lithium metal phosphate material having a predetermined average particle size.

摘要: A process for producing a low-cost water-reactive sulfide material includes reacting a substantially anhydrous first alkali metal salt, a substantially anhydrous first sulfide compound, and a substantially anhydrous first alkali metal hydrosulfide compound in a substantially anhydrous polar solvent, providing differential solubility for a substantially high solubility second sulfide and a substantially low solubility second alkali metal salt, and forming a mixture of the high solubility second sulfide, a second alkali metal hydrosulfide, and the low solubility second alkali metal salt; removing the low solubility second alkali metal salt to isolate the supernatant including the second sulfide, and separating the polar solvent from the second sulfide and the second alkali metal hydrosulfide followed by heating to produce the second sulfide. The present disclosure provides a scalable process for production of a high purity alkali metal sulfide that is essentially free of undesired contaminants.

摘要: The present invention relates to a method for preparing a lithium bis(fluorosulfonyl)imide salt, including a step of dissolving bis(chlorosulfonyl)imide in an organic solvent in a non-glass vessel to prepare a first reaction solution; a step of injecting lithium fluoride (LiF) to the first reaction solution in the non-glass vessel and refluxing while heating to prepare a second reaction solution; a step of separating a product including a lithium bis(fluorosulfonyl)imide salt and the organic solvent from the second reaction solution; and a step of obtaining the lithium bis(fluorosulfonyl)imide salt in a solid phase from the product, wherein the organic solvent is at least one or more selected from the group consisting of ethyl acetate, butyl acetate, chloroform, dichloromethane, dichloroethane, benzene, xylene and acetonitrile.

摘要: An effectively solvent-free alkali metal or alkali earth metal closo-borate salt is prepared in the presence of a non-aqueous solvent where the solvent can be removed to levels below one mole percent of the salt. The process involves the exchange of cations with a closo-borate anion via an acid-base process or a metathesis process. The solvent is removed from the alkali metal or alkali earth metal closo-borate salt by heating. The temperature can be greater than the melting point of the salt but lower than temperatures where decomposition occurs.

摘要: A hybrid separator for an electrochemical cell is provided, along with methods of making the hybrid separator. The hybrid separator includes a first metal-organic framework comprising copper and having a plurality of first pores and a second distinct metal-organic framework comprising indium or zinc and having a plurality of second pores. The hybrid separator is capable of adsorbing one or more lithium salts in at least one of the plurality of first pores or the plurality of second pores so as to be ionically conductive. The hybrid separator may have a conductivity greater than or equal to about 0.1 mS/cm to less than or equal to about 1 mS/cm and is substantially free of any polymeric binder.
