摘要: A refractory lining structure for a metallurgical vessel is characterized by at least one elongated expansion joint formed in and extending through the surface of the working lining in a substantially vertical direction. The elongated expansion joint accommodates thermal expansion of the working lining in a metallurgical vessel such as, for example, a tundish during preheating for a continuous casting operation. The elongated expansion joint decreases crack formation, delamination, and spalling of the working lining from underlying back-up linings and/or safety linings in metallurgical vessels during preheating and use, while still facilitating metal skull removal after the completion of metallurgical operations.

摘要: To provide a high-zirconia electrocast refractory in which occurrence of cracks in manufacture and occurrence of cracks in use as a furnace material is further reduced while maintaining extremely high corrosion resistance to molten glass. The high-zirconia electrocast refractory contains 96.7 to 98.5 mass % of ZrO2, 0.8 to 2.7 mass % of SiO2, 0 to 0.2 mass % of Na2O, 0.21 to 1 mass % of K2O, 0.1 to 0.4 mass % of Al2O3, and does not substantially contain B2O3, in terms of oxide, as a chemical composition, wherein contents of the Na2O and the K2O satisfy a relation of following Formula (1) 0.15 mass %≤CK2O/2+CNa2O≤0.6 mass %  (1) where CK2O is the content of K2O and CNa2O is the content of Na2O, and each of the contents is expressed by mass % in the refractory.

摘要: The present invention provides for a solid body composition that is able to withstand penetration and/or reaction with salts or salt compositions in one or more states of matter (solid, liquid, gas). The composition comprises at least one aggregate and at least one binder. The aggregate may be chosen based on its thermodynamic stability compared to a salt composition. The binder comprises a resol resin or a novolac resin, or a combination of one or more of a resol resin and one or more of a novolac resin. The resin binder sets to provide initial strength then is pyrolized to form a glassy carbon which acts as a barrier to a salt phase or phases of an industrial process.
