Abstract:
A method of inhibiting thrombus formation in a mammalian subject. The method involves administering to the subject a therapeutically effective dose of a calix(n)arene compound derivatized, at its ring positions meta to the bridge attachments to the ring, with polar substituents having terminal sulfonate groups, including esters and amides which are cleavable in vivo.
Abstract:
Sulfophenoxy malonate compounds and copolyester resins utilizing said malonate compounds comprising the condensation product of (a) an aromatic dicarboxylic acid or its lower alkyl diester, (b) an aliphatic glycol, and (c) a minor amount of a substituted acid or ester thereof represented by the formula:
WHEREIN R1 and R2 are both hydrogen or lower alkyl radicals, R3 is hydrogen or a lower alkyl radical, and M is a metal.
Abstract:
A water dispersible polymeric composition comprises at least one sulfo group containing segment, which group comprises at least one urethane or urea connecting group, said composition also comprising at least one hydrophobic segment, which segment comprises at least one urethane or urea connecting group. The composition when dried can provide a coating on a substrate or an article having low surface energy and preferably ink receptive properties. The article can provide release capabilities towards adhesives, particularly pressure sensitive adhesives.
Abstract:
The present invention is concerned with novel monomers containing sulfonic acid groups or salts thereof and polymers thereof which are useful for many purposes, such as antistatic agents for textiles and other shaped articles formed of hydrophilic materials. They are useful for making copolymers that are particularly valuable in coating compositions, especially in the form of aqueous latices or organic solvent solutions thereof. Examples of the monomers are of the formula ##STR1## wherein R is hydrogen or lower (C.sub.1 -C.sub.4)alkyl, such as methyl,A is an alkylene group having 2 to 10 carbon atoms, at least 2 of which extend in one chain between the oxygen atoms, andX is an aromatic nucleus or an alkyl group, substituted by a sulfonic acid group and optionally one or more groups selected from sulfonic acid, carboxylic acid, and lower alkyl, such as methyl, ethyl, propyl, or butyl.
Abstract:
A process for producing an alkoxycarbonylfluoroalkanesulfonate represented by the formula [1] is provided. This process includes the steps of (a) reacting a halofluoroalkanoate represented by the formula [2], with a sulfinating agent, thereby obtaining an alkoxycarbonylfluoroalkanesulfinate represented by the formula [3]; and (b) reacting the alkoxycarbonylfluoroalkanesulfinate with an oxidizing agent, thereby obtaining the target alkoxycarbonylfluoroalkanesulfonate. Furthermore, it is possible to react the obtained alkoxycarbonylfluoroalkanesulfonate with a monovalent onium salt to conduct a salt exchange, thereby obtaining a alkoxycarbonylfluoroalkanesulfonic acid onium salt represented by the formula [4].
Abstract:
Sulfonato-benzyl-malonic diesters as new compounds and a process for the preparation thereof by condensing of a malonic acid diester with a sulfonato-benzaldehyde and thereafter hydrogenating the reaction product thus obtained. The new compounds are useful as intermediate products and especially useful as comonomers for the synthetic resin and fiber industry.
