    摘要: An improved process for the removal of by-product amounts of undesirable aromatic hydrocarbon compounds from a mixture comprised of such compounds and predominantly tetramethyltetrahydronaphthalene is provided. In accordance with the process the mixture is contacted with a concentrated sulfuric acid solution whereby the undesirable aromatic hydrocarbons are dissolved therein and the acid phase containing said hydrocarbons is removed from the mixture.

    摘要: An improvement in the process for separating isobutylene from a mixture of C.sub.4 hydrocarbon by extracting with sulfuric acid, characterized in that the C.sub.4 hydrocarbon mixture is extracted at a temperature between about 30.degree. and 45.degree.C by means of about 40 - 55 percent by weight sulfuric acid in a first stage, whereupon the extract thus obtained is converted into isobutylene and into sulfuric acid, the residual mixture of C.sub.4 hydrocarbons after separating the entrained tertiary butyl alcohol is extracted in a second stage at a temperature between about 10.degree. and 25.degree.C by means of about 60 - 70 percent by weight sulfuric acid, the extract thus obtained being separated into sulfuric acid and into hydrocarbons (dimers and trimers).

    摘要: Olefins, such as C5 to C30 olefins formed by thermal cracking of long chain normal paraffins, are subjected to acid treatment by contacting the olefins in liquid phase at a temperature of about 0* to about 225*F. and, preferably, from about 50* to about 100*F., with an adsorbent supported sulfuric acid composition. The process can be conducted, for example, by passing the olefin in liquid phase through a bed of free-flowing, granular, solid adsorbent supported sulfuric acid composition prepared, for example, by contacting an adsorbent, such as silica gel, with sulfuric acid. The spent treating composition can be conveniently reclaimed by burning off the accumulation of adsorbed materials or through solvent action and the recovered silica gel reused in preparing an additional amount of the silica gel supported sulfuric acid material. The acid treated olefins are highly useful for production of olefin sulfonate detergents having an improved color.
