Abstract:
Radioactive arsenic (.sup.72 As) labelled tissue specific ligands are prepared and used in the medical imaging of malignant breast or prostate tumors.
Abstract:
Compounds of formula (I) are disclosed: ##STR1## wherein L.sup.1 is a main group atom, L.sup.2 is a neutral ligand, M is a transition element or a metal element of Group 13, 14, 15, or 16 of the Periodic Table, x is the number of coordination sites of M, R.sup.1 is a polymerizable group, R.sup.2, R.sup.3, and R.sup.4 are ligands, and R.sup.5 is an anionic ligand. The compounds or monomers of formula (I) are capable of conversion to polymers by combination with one or more other known monomers, such as methyl methacrylate. Such polymers can then be added as a binder in a paint formulation to make marine antifouling coating compositions. Also described is a method to prevent fouling on surfaces wherein a composition containing a metal complex compound of formula (II): ##STR2## wherein M, x, L.sup.2, n, and R.sup.4 have the same meaning as in formula (I), is applied to the surface susceptible to fouling.
Abstract:
A triarylsulfonium salt is prepared in high yield and high purity by a two-step process involving a aryl Grignard reagent reacted with a diarylsulfoxide in a solvent which is a mixture of aliphatic and aromatic hydrocarbons, followed by a second step which is metathesis with ZMF.sub.6, where Z is a metal or metal-like anion, and M is antimony, arsenic or phosphorus, preferably employing an ammonium salt and carried out in a non-aqueous solvent.
Abstract:
A method is provided for making certain diaryliodonium salt photoinitiators, based on the initial formation of diaryliodonium perchlorate which is formed from a diaryliodonium bisulfate precursor. The diaryliodonium perchlorate is then reacted with a counter ion source, such as an alkali metal hexafluoro metalloid salt, to produce the desired diaryliodonium salt, which can be used as a photoinitiator. The iodonium salt photoinitiators made by the method of the present invention can be used to effect the cure of a variety of cationically polymerizable organic materials, such as epoxy resins.
Abstract:
Halogen onium salts, and onium salts of Group VA and V1A elements having an MF.sub.6.sup.- anion, where M is selected from P, As and Sb, have been found to exhibit unusual activity under ultraviolet light. These onium salts can be employed as cationic photoinitiators when used with a variety of organic resins and cyclic organic compounds.
Abstract:
A method is provided for making certain diaryliodonium salt photoinitiators, based on the initial formation of a diaryliodonium bisulfate. Methylene chloride is substituted for acetic acid during the reaction between potassium iodate and benzene in the presence of acetic anhydride and sulfuric acid. The diaryliodonium bisulfate is then reacted with a counterion source, such as a metal salt, to produce the desired diaryliodonium salt which can be used as a photoinitiator. The iodonium salt photoinitiators made by the method of the present invention can be used to make UV curable compositions.

Abstract:
The principal object of the invention is to provide a lithium salt having excellent ion conductivity. The invention solves the problem by providing a lithium salt having a structure represented by the general formula (1): in which “M” represents B, Si, Ge, P, As or Sb; “X” represents the valence of “M”; “R1” represents —CmH2m— whereupon “m” is an integer of 1 to 4; “R2” represents —CkH2k+1 whereupon “k” is an integer of 1 to 8; and “n” represents 0 to 12.
