    摘要: Cationic polyvinyl acetals are prepared by copolymerizing one or more cationic N-alkyldiallylammonium salt monomers with one or more vinyl esters of branched or unbranched carboxylic acids having 1 to 15 carbon atoms, hydrolyzing the resulting copolymers to copolymers containing ≧50 mol % vinyl alcohol units, and acetalizating the vinyl alcohol units with one or more aliphatic aldehydes having 1 to 15 carbon atoms, their acetals, and/or hemiacetals, wherein the copolymerization takes place in a mixture of water and monovalent aliphatic alcohol having a water content of 2% to 35% by weight.

    摘要: The invention relates to a process for preparing solid polyvinyl ester resins using a bulk or solution polymerization process in the presence of a chain transfer agent, wherein one or more vinyl esters of unbranched or branched alkyl carboxylic acids having 1 to 15 carbon atoms are polymerized in the presence of a compound selected from the group consisting of monovalent aliphatic alcohols having 1 to 6 carbon atoms, esters of aliphatic monocarboxylic acids and aliphatic alcohols each having 1 to 4 carbon atoms, or aliphatic ketones having 3 to 6 carbon atoms.

    摘要: This invention deals with new unsaturated esteramides of .alpha.,.beta. -unsaturated polycarboxylic acids derived from halogenated alcohols of the formula ##STR1## wherein R is a divalent hydrocarbon moiety having at least one and no more than 10 carbon atoms, X is a member selected from the class of bromine and chlorine, and R' is a member selected from the class of hydrogen, X and a monovalent hydrocarbon containing at least one and no more than 20 carbon atoms. Typical esteramides are the maleates, fumarates, itaconates and citraconates. These monomers possess fire-retardant properties and are useful for the synthesis of polymers and copolymers.
