Abstract: The vinylidene-fluoride-based polymer composition according to the present invention comprises a vinylidene-fluoride-based polymer and a specific surfactant and contains no fluorinated surfactant, wherein the specific surfactant is contained in an amount of 10 ppm or larger but less than 100 ppm in terms of mass ppm of the solid components of the composition and has an HLB value of 10 or greater. The method for producing a vinylidene-fluoride-based polymer according to the present invention comprises emulsion-polymerizing specific monomers in an aqueous medium in the presence of a specific emulsifier and an initiator without using any fluorinated surfactant, the use amount of the emulsifier being 8.5 ppm or larger but less than 100 ppm in terms of mass ppm of the monomers.

Abstract: A connecting composition and a scaling coating for wire or cable insulation is disclosed. The connecting composition comprising a PVDF copolymer and a solvent. The solvent comprises cyclic ketone, wherein the weight percent of PVDF copolymer is from 20 to 40 wt. %, preferably 20 to 35 wt. % based on the total weight of PVDF copolymer and solvent. The PVDF copolymer comprises one or more comonomers and at least 75 wt. % vinylidene fluoride units, preferable at least 80% vinylidene fluoride units and has a melt viscosity of 2 to 12, preferably 4 and 10 kPoise at 230° C. and 100 s−1.

Abstract: The invention relates to sized reinforcing fibers that comprise a reinforcing fiber sized with a fluoropolymer. The fluoropolymer is functionalized and/or the reinforcing fiber is sized with a compatible functional non-fluorinated polymer that is compatible with the fluoropolymer. Functionalization of the fluoropolymer or the compatible non-fluorinated polymer provides enhanced properties, such as increased adhesion to the reinforcing fiber.
