Abstract: The present invention is directed towards a coating composition comprising a film-forming polymer comprising active hydrogen-containing functional groups; a blocked polyisocyanate curing agent comprising a blocking group derived from a blocking agent comprising an alpha-hydroxy amide, ester or thioester; and a curing catalyst that does not contain tin, lead, iron, zinc or manganese. Also disclosed are coatings, coated substrates, and methods of coating a substrate.

Abstract: A polyisocyanate resin can include from 25 wt % to 50 wt % of a first cycloaliphatic polyisocyanate and from 50 wt % to 75 wt % of a flexibilizing component based on a total weight of the polyisocyanate resin. The flexibilizing component can include a linear aliphatic polyisocyanate having a number average isocyanate functionality of from 2 to 3 based on gel permeation chromatography and an isocyanate-terminated reaction product of a second cycloaliphatic polyisocyanate and an isocyanate-reactive material, the reaction product having a Tg of less than −30° C. based on a Differential Scanning calorimetry (2nd Heating) temperature scan from −100° ° C. to 150° C. using 20° C./min heating and cooling ramps. The isocyanate-terminated reaction product and the linear aliphatic polyisocyanate can be present at a weight ratio of from 0.5 to 2.5.

The multi-unit carbodiimide and/or the siloxane may be used in a surface coating applied to a substrate, and an overcoat may be applied to the surface coating. The surface coating may chemically interact with the overcoat and/or the substrate to improve corrosion resistance and other properties of the coated substrate.

Abstract: The disclosed adhesive compositions comprise (A) an isocyanate component comprising (i) an isocyanate and (ii) an isocyanate-terminated silane compound. In some embodiments, the isocyanate-terminated silane compound (ii) is the reaction product of a polyisocyanate and an isocyanate-reactive compound comprising a silane group and at least one isocyanate-reactive group selected from the group consisting of —OH, —SH, and —NHR, where R stands for an alkyl remainder having from 1 to 12 C atoms or a cycloaliphatic or aromatic remainder having between 6 and 12 C atoms. In other embodiments, the isocyanate-terminated silane compound (ii) is the reaction product of a polyisocyanate selected from the group consisting of isophorone diisocyanate, m-xylylene diisocyanate, mixtures thereof, dimers thereof, trimers thereof, prepolymers thereof, and combinations thereof and an isocyanate-reactive compound comprising a silane group and at least one isocyanate-reactive group of —NH2. Methods for preparing the disclosed two-component adhesive compositions, and methods for forming laminate comprising same, are also disclosed.

Abstract: A task to be achieved by the invention is to provide a fiber substrate having excellent filling state of a urethane resin and excellent hand feeling. The present invention provides a fiber substrate filled with a urethane resin (X), which is formed from a water dispersion of the urethane resin (X), wherein the water dispersion has a urethane resin (X) content of 50 to 80% by mass, and the water dispersion contains no organic solvent. Further, the present invention provides an artificial leather having the above-mentioned fiber substrate. It is preferred that the urethane resin (X) uses a chain extender (a1) as a raw material. Further, the chain extender (a1) which has an amino group is preferably used.

Abstract: The present invention provides alkoxylated polymers. The alkoxylated polymers have two or more alkoxylated sites. The alkoxylated polymers can comprise any monomers and/or oligomers that contain one or more functional groups with an active hydrogen. The alkoxylated polymers are useful in any application for which polymers are generally used. For example, the alkoxylated polymers are useful as additives in ink and coating compositions.
