摘要： Described herein is a polymerized biorenewable, petroleum based, previously modified, or functionalized oil, comprising a polymeric distribution having about 2 to about 80 wt % oligomer content, a polydispersity index ranging from about 1.0 to about 5.0, and sulfur content ranging from 0.001 wt % to about 8 wt %. Methods of manufacturing the polymerized oil as well as its incorporation into asphalt paving, roofing, and coating applications are also described.

摘要： A lubricity additive soluble in paraffinic lubes is prepared by cosulfurizing a blend of 90 to 50 and preferably 88 to 70 parts by volume of lard oil having a free acid content of less than 0.5 wt. % and preferably less than 0.2 wt. % and a pour point of 35.degree.-40.degree. F. and an olefin containing 2 to 24 carbon atoms at from 365.degree. to 445.degree. F. for 20 minutes to 10 hours followed by blowing with a gas to remove hydrogen sulfide.

摘要： Acetylthio amides and esters were prepared by the free radical addition of thiolacetic acid to the terminal and nonterminal double bonds of N-substituted fatty amides and fatty esters. The free radical additions of the thiolacetic acid to the unsaturated compounds were initiated by irradiation using cobalt-60. The process using irradiation with cobalt-60 was also used to bring about the addition of bromotrichloromethane to N-substituted fatty amides and fatty esters to produce halogen-containing amides and esters. These new sulfur or halogen-containing compounds were found to have antimicrobial activity and to possess properties making them useful as antimicrobial agents.

摘要： Soaps and ester-soaps of high molecular weight .alpha.-alkyl branched aliphatic monocarboxylic acids obtained from high molecular weight .alpha.-olefins are useful lubricants for structural resins. The high molecular weight acids useful for the preparation of the soaps and ester-soaps are obtained by the free radical addition of a short-chain monocarboxylic acid and .alpha.-olefins containing 22 or more carbon atoms. The soaps and ester-soaps of this invention provide excellent internal-external lubrication for PVC homopolymers and copolymers.

摘要： The present invention provides a process for obtaining mixed acid compositions having significantly increased polybasic acid contents from polymerized fatty acids. The improved polybasic acid compositions are obtained by heating a polymerized fatty acid containing 50 percent or more dimer acid in the presence of a free radical initiator. In addition to significantly increased polybasic acid contents the resulting products have essentially all the carboxyl functionality available as -COOH.
