Abstract: The present disclosure provides compositions and methods for enhanced healing of wounds, e.g. cutaneous wounds, by application of a scaffold or matrix, e.g. a hydrogel, comprising an effective dose of edited dendritic cells (DCs). As used herein, edited dendritic cells refers to mammalian, usually human, dendritic cells that have been genetically modified to alter expression of one or more genes involved in wound healing. In some embodiments edited DC are modified to downregulate or substantially eliminate expression of N-myc downregulated gene 2 (Ndrg2) expression, which cells may be referred to as Ndrg2 KO DCs.

Abstract: A method for producing a low-cost fully biodegradable disposable straw. Natural plant powder is prepared. Deacetylated konjac gel is prepared. The taro starch-cassava starch is crosslinked. The raw material is stirred and mixed to obtain the mixed raw material, and the mixed raw material is heated. The heated raw material is added to the beverage straw manufacturing unit to obtain a straw crude. The straw crude is cut to obtain several straws. The quality inspection, the disinfection and the packaging of the straw are carried out, and the fully biodegradable straw is obtained, finally.

Abstract: This invention discloses adhesive compositions useful for providing cohesive strength to particles, for example a mat of wood particles produced while making particleboard prior to curing. The adhesive compositions has a) one or more biopolymers and b) one or more monomers or oligomers. An oligomer may have a degree of polymerization of 4 or less. The weight ratio of the monomer/oligomer to the biopolymer is optionally between 30:70 and 80:20. Optionally, the adhesive compositions may be combined with an isocyanate. The adhesive composition may be used to make no added formaldehyde wood composites such as particleboard.

Abstract: A composition contains a silylated polysaccharide, where the silylated polysaccharide is characterized by: (a) having linked fructose, galactose, anhydrogalactose, or glucose saccharide units provided that glycosidic linkages of glucose are alpha linkages and that the silylated polysaccharide is other than a silylated starch; and (b) on average 1 to 100 mole-percent of the hydroxyl groups on the polysaccharide have been silylated with a silyl group having the structure —SiR3 linked to the polysaccharide through a C—O—Si bond where each R is independently selected from hydrocarbyl radicals having from one to 12 carbon atoms, provided that on average at least one R per polysaccharide has a terminally unsaturated carbon-carbon double bond.

Abstract: A clay control additive for wellbore fluids comprises a blended starch polymer solution comprising a quarternary amine-functionalized starch polymer. The polymer is preferably cationized to a degree of substitution of at least 0.30. The starches may be synthetic or blended from natural amylose cationic starches. In an embodiment, a further additive comprises cactus mucilage obtained from the Opuntia genus, which may be combined with the starch polymer in a 1 to 95% solution. In another embodiment, both the starch and the mucilage may be further combined with conventional additives (e.g., choline chloride) to further enhance the clay control properties.

Abstract: A method of producing a solid soap containing at least one image embedded within the solid soap includes printing a printed image on a base layer of solid soap, applying molten soap to the printed base layer, and allowing the soap to harden so as to embed the image within the solid soap. The image can be a high-resolution image and can be printed on the base layer of solid soap using a flatbed printer. The soap can include a background layer against which the image is visible.
